Seattle is a graveyard for big name receivers

Some of you all shouldn't be too torn up about this. Our history with receivers has been much worse. And the past few years, our coaching staff has found some real gems (Baldwin, Kearse, Mike Williams for 1 season) at the receiver position and been successful.

We haven't had a 1,000 yard receiver since Bobby Engram in 2007.

The last receivers who really produced well for us prior to Engram were Koren Robinson & Darrell Jackson, and anyone with any memory of those Hasselbeck years remembers the misery of watching them drop passes. At least the guys this coaching staff pick up have hands.

Harvin, Rice, Houshmanzadah, Branch......make no mistake, Seattle is a graveyard for big name receivers.

This team has had one great receiver, ever. That's kind of messed up. There is such a huge drop off between Largent and Blades.

But it's been blessed with a long history of awesome running backs, so there's a silver lining.

Truth. If you are a big name WR who has enjoyed a lot of success and want to quickly fall off the map, come to Seattle.

Big name?

None of those are 'big' names.

Rice, Harvin, Housh and Branch were ALL big names hence why we paid a hefty price for all of them. Not Calvin Johnson big but those guys rarely if ever hit the market and if they do (Brandon Marshall for example) it's for a not so good reason.

Largent, Blades, and Galloway seemed to do fine here.

Okay, maybe not big name receivers, but guys who everyone had high hopes for as a true, #1 receiver.

Branch was the best receiver in a high octane New England offense in 2005.

Rice was a season removed from 1,300 receiving, and considered one of the "up-and-coming" star receivers.

Housh was a bit over the hill when he came to Seattle, but had been an incredibly efficient 2nd receiver (and thus had hopes to be a #1 receiver).

and now add Harvin.

We have an unlucky streak at trying to hit it big at this position.

TJ was past his prime. The best thing to do is stay away from receivers from the Minnesota Vikings. You do that and we'll already be in better shape.
