Why is everyone so down on Hauschka? He's been money ever since we grabbed him off waivers. Last year his 3 misses?

50 yards - blocked (at Arizona)
51 yards - wide left (at San Fran)
61 yards - short (at Detroit)

That's it.

I like our kicker. The only reason to get another is if he becomes too expensive.

Pete showed a serious lack of confidence, on several occasions, last year with Haushka. Couldn't get my head around it then...can't get my head around it now. The guy is money as far as I'm concerned. Let him kick!

Hauschka is good, but Carp is better. I wouldn't mind the switch. Only reason Miami cut him was $.

I'm not down on him. But I would say that in this day and age, being accurate at short range and kicking long FGs probably aren't mutually exclusive. I'm sure Pete would like to be able to confidently go for a 54 yard FG at times in the coming season, and perhaps right now he just can't.

Hauschka almost hit a 61 yarder. I'd say he could probably kick a 54 yarder if the team asked him to do so.

Seriously, if anyone didn't see that....if that kick was from 60, it would've been good. 3 more inches and it probably would've bounced over the crossbar..the ball bounced almost straight up. I don't know how many kickers in the NFL can kick 60 yarders consistently, but I'd say it's probably short of half of them. I don't see anything wrong with Hauschka

Signing Carpenter would be in no way a slight to what Hauschka did last season and the improvements he may have made during this off-season. Competition is good, guys!

It may be contract related. Haushka will make $1 million plus this season. Of course the whole Carpenter issue is likely speculation.
