"Quarterback Russell Wilson was excellent throughout, doing little to detract from his MVP campaign. Wilson did have a fumble early in the second quarter but was otherwise flawless, missing very few throws and connecting on several beautiful passes downfield."

Hmm could it be the 7 that someone here wants to blame Wilson for were coverage not Wilson? OF course since PFF did not say it was Wilson but hey let not let facts get int he way of someones need to blame. FYI I do think a couple were on Wilson, but cant prove it, so I will not commit to it.

:229031_shrug: Neither James Thomas nor anyone else is blaming anyone with that tweet. It's humorous though.
.

The tweet did at the bottom the other 7 were on Wilson.

That's just an outcome assignment from the referenced grading source below.

Forgive me .......... Of the 8 pressures allowed, only 1 (hurry) was charged to the OL.

The other 7... on Russell Wilson. [tweet]https://twitter.com/JamesThomasHT/status/1206615201853906946[/tweet]

........................ I just couldn't resist posting the above tweet ...... LOL
As I always say, I am not here to ride in as a white night for Russ and yes, there are times he holds the ball too long. With that said, this is an incomplete picture. The o-line held up 7 times, but do we know if there were open receivers on any or all of those pressures? If the downfield receivers were covered did the pattern have an outlet/dumpoff available to him? What was the down and distance? If it was 3rd and say 7 or more was he holding it looking for an open receiver that was beyond the sticks?

He's just fine. But I'm just a Russ lover according to many. And that's ok. He always has room to get better, but we are in damn good hands with him under center. Esp. in crunch time.

By way of clarification,

Stats are devoid of the context from which they are stripped and are by and large misunderstood. For the most part, we humans pick and chose stats that reinforce a preferred view we are comfortable with while protesting inclusion of those that make us uncomfortable.

Russell continues to grow and adapt. For me, his growth is both intriguing and inspiring to watch unfold. As someone noted about the Panther game, Russell may have thrown the ball away a bit more frequently than typical ....... in spite of a lowering effect on completion percentage.

My indulgence in post the above tweet is in recognition that it's healthy to avoid getting too wrapped up with spoon fed stats. They can be every bit as incomplete and misleading as spoon fed news feeds ..... LOL

The offense had one bad game against the Rams. But other than that I can't look at that unit and be concerned about their ability to perform.

The defense is the thing that has been disconcerting this season. With Diggs at FS there was a serious improvement. They weren't amazing but were doing much better. This team can score, but it's only held the other team under 20 points four games this season. They're still giving up nearly 25 points a game. That's where the problems are likely going to come from, not the offense.

Indeed, it was the point of your post :2thumbs: ........ "Clarification" may have been a poor word chose. I was attempting to clarify my post with tweet rather than your post. Something along the lines of 'By way of elaboration' would have read better. Sorry for any confusion.

I think Russ played well this week. Fans don't like it but mitigating risk is important when you are way ahead in a football game. He could have thrown the ball away a bit quicker but taking the sacks he did wasn't that bad in terms of win probability due to game situation.

The problem with the term "coverage sack" is that it ignores game situation. If you are trailing by 21 points then you want your QB taking a chance at a tiny throwing window. If you are leading by 21 points then a receiver needs to be extremely open to warrant the risk.

Good point. Often it's one of those things where you are yelling at the tv to run the ball 3 times, make them use timeouts, NO pass plays etc. So if he DOES get sacked, it's no different than a running play that eats up clock. I get more frustrated with plays like when they had a 3rd down and threw a long pass instead of running the ball and making them use their last time out. Plain stupid. But not nearly as stupid as having the ball near mid field, completely in control and you call a pass play from a WR??? Next level stupid, there is NO reason to call a play like that when you are in control and have the game in hand, AND they can't stop the run. Getting "cute" rarely works, so just stop. It's maddening.

The reality is other than when an Oline gets beat in under 2 seconds we have no way of knowing all the needed data to decide who is to blame. To many moving parts that we don't know. Down, distance, play call, wr routs, RB routes or blocking, Te routes or Blocking, oline assignment, miscues, the situation of the game, etc.
