With all the votes already in could it be possible for RW to atleast take his team deep into the playoffs, and the winner of award could possibly watch him do it sitting on his ass in d.c or indy. The award is for rookie of the year, not the regular season rookie of the year.
Maybe they should hold off on the voting till the year is finished.

Heh, I don't like individual awards to begin with because this is a team game.

Its a regular season award, and IMO RGIII deserves it as much as RW does, I'd have no issue at all if RGIII won it, Luck on the other hand I'd have an issue with.

but almost every single record out there only covers regular season events

take Megatron's receiving record, which probably isn't as many as Rice managed in the year he set it because Rice likely played in the playoffs (cba looking it up to confirm).

Or say a rookie like Doug Martin who played great and would be in contention any other year, but doesn't have the opportunity to make a dent in the playoffs because the rest of his team sucks.

You can only compare like for like imo

theres records,,, then theres awards.. awards should be given to those who stand out the most... which in my opinion, means the playoffs.. where it REALLY matters...

No, I'd like to see him get it, but it won't bother me if he doesn't.

So if the hawks go all the way and he is the first rookie qb to win a superbowl he shouldn't be the rookie of the year. doubt that would go over too well here.

I would really like to see Wilson win Rookie of the Year. That said, it's satisfying enough that he is the only rookie QB still in the playoffs. Give them the award, we get the award of watching our team play further into January.

I think if RW became the first rookie to win a superbowl nobody here would ever care that he didn't win rookie of the year bar a couple of "haha can you believe those idiots who didn't vote for RW?"

Put it this way, Aaron Rodgers won MVP last year and Tom Brady won it in 2007 but Eli Manning was the player that was clutch in the playoffs both times
Should that discount the season that both had?

Remember when Rick Mirer won rookie of the year.. That award means the world to us Hawk fans.

I see both sides of this. He clearly will be the no doubt rookie of the year, but I don't really care about the award.

Any chance we can hold that Offensive Rookie-of-the-Year vote again?

Nice link kearly, I like this one as well:

14. The NFC championship is in two weeks, but once upon a time I thought it would be next Saturday in San Francisco. Then I saw Seattle.

Playoff wins (and wins in general) are a team stat, not an individual one. And you can have a rookie make an outstanding contribution for a team that performed badly elsewhere, costing them a shot at the postseason. That rookie shouldn't be penalized for the flaws of the rest of the team (think Doug Martin for the Bucs, for example). The rookie awards are done the right way.

Not every rookie (as a matter of fact most rookies) will make it to the playoffs. The official AP ROY Polls (DF/OFF) can not be a post-season award. For the post season the NFL "recognizes" the Pepsi ROY award. So this is your chance, go vote at NFL.com!

He didn't win it.
Correct... Jerome Bettis did.

Mirer came in 2nd.
