So heres the answer trade Wilsona and Wagner and we should win easy with all that money to find these great players.

FYI that great defense was built with a Coach who knew the players in College that were comming out. He nolonger has that insight. That great defense took up over 15% of the cap on just 4 players and that great defense would not have won crap wihthut that QB you now think it holding us back. That same QB that we would be lucky to win 5 games without, but hey lets trade him and see how long before we even can win 10 game again. I will be there rooting for my team the Seahawk either way.

Not just the highest seven players... you pay one franchise QB roughly 1/5 of your TOTAL cap allocation.

The only way to make it work is with excellent drafting. That hasn't been the case...at all. People get butt hurt about that reality and fan boy gang up to defend Pete and John, but the truth is we replaced elite level talent with fringe roster players who by and large have not made the kind of impacts we needed them to (in many spots).

They have drafted ok at times, but certainly not enough to build a legitimate Super Bowl contender. There are reasons why this team hasn't been to the NFC Championship game for five straight seasons.

Now -- I think they took a step in the right direction with the 2019 draft class. I am very bearish on Collier (an absolute disappearing act), but Metcalf looks like a budding star. Blair has great potential if he can really learn the D, and I like Barton's upside. Haynes didn't get much of a chance to show anything, so the book is open for him. Amadi looks like a play maker, Burr-Kirven's ceiling is probably core special teamer, and Homer impressed me, too. Then you have Ursua, who should have a lot more opportunity this year. And the staff seems pretty high on Christmas, who missed the whole season.

Jennings ended up being a terrible pick - he didn't even make the team after the Seahawks used a 4th rounder on him. Ouch.

It's not just the Seahawks: teams with huge QB contracts have not been very successful in the playoffs:

"If you give all your money to your quarterback, there's not enough to go around for everyone else, which makes it pretty difficult to build a championship contending team"

100% correct.

I will add to that with an even more unpopular opinion. Paying a MLB close to 20 mill a year is dumb. Really dumb. Bobby at this point is a probably still a top 5 MLB in the league but MLB just dont have that type of impact to warrant anywhere near that money.

That's an unpopular opinion, but it deserves examination. I didn't think Wagner was a good re-signing given the team's situation, though he's still playing very well. Then again, we didn't find an heir apparent, so we didn't have much choice.

I'll add to Greg: 2018's draft class was also pretty decent IMHO.

You can talk about the four HOF's on our D who took up over 15%
but RW takes up 15% on his own now.
Are we winning more now than then?I'm inclined to agree that BWags
deal isn't the smartest deal the FO has done.
I'm not saying get rid of RW but this contract should be the last unless
caps get managed somehow because No one player should ever take
15% or more.

LOl and then we will be back to 7 or less wins waiting till we get lucky enough to find another franchise QB or our cocah can build another historic defense, with a top 3 run game and another Qb who can do what Wilson does. But hey that means letting Wilson go in his prime sure of course do it. also FYI WIlson will be a HOF as well.

While I agree no one player shoudl take up 15% of the cap, that is the reality of what we have to deal with. You either pay your Elite Qb or you become the Browns waiting what 20 years for one, and being a joke. But hey your right this hsould eb the lasy so we let him go or trade him whiel still in his prime and HOPE what we get back can make or keep us winning or at lest show it can within a few years. Win now or win sometime in the future, ever hear " a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush" You dont let Franchise QB in their prime go unless there is injury issues or age. In our case there is neither. Its not just umpopluar it does not work, unlesss of course you have a sereis of times say 10 or so out of the 30+ years of the NFL were it did work.
