O.T., but PLANNING on E.T. returning punts was one of the crazier things I can think of in recent NFL memory. That the Super Bowl champs would put the linchpin of their defense back there returning kicks -- particularly when he looked so bad doing so -- was always nuts to me.
Was it something E.T. was intensely lobbying for or something? I never understood the logic of it.
Edit: just checked. I guess I had assumed he was returning punts in college. Nope. Not that either. Before last year in college and the pros he had returned four punts in his entire life. Then he returned 2 of them last year before the Hawks came back to their senses. Just really strange.
