To me, the fact that the Rams wanted him means a lot. McVay and Snead are excellent evaluators of talent.

We're lucky the Colts turned the Rams down. It was a good offer, too. The Rams 1st, 3rd and 4th.

For those of you who didn't check the pick values the Rams offered the Colts #15 or #16 pick value for the #15 picks. IE the Rams concur the Seahawks got #15 or #16 pick value with the #16 pick. Congrats. Enjoy. Celebrate now.

By contrast the Rams overpaid for the #39 pick and selected a player many thought would be selected circa pick #50-55.

A hot take would be the Rams were trying to get fair value at #15 so that the Seahawks might pick a significantly lower value player at #16...but their 'dastardly' plot failed.

I would have given away way over fair value to steal an elite player out from under a division rival's nose. Doing so is much more valuable than just selecting such a player because you weaken your opponents position, while strengthening yours.

I'm just really glad I don't have to hear Geno scream "Om my God" twice a season as Murph breaks through in pursuit.


It's also nice to see some actual verification of who wanted our eventual pick. It seems like on the many Seahawks first round "reaches" over the years , there was also some post the next day on how the <insert team here> was going to jump up to get him, so we had to take him then. Never seemed substantiated though and too often was used to justify a serious over reach. (Collier, Carpenter, Irvin , Brooks).
