Karty for sure has been awful, and this is one of the better kickers in a league that sends more of them to the n do than any other, but still…

I hope he misses 3 XPs in a 39-3 victory.

For the record he was only signed to the PS. It's a signal to the Karty, (the current K), that they're not happy with his performance. The team wants to compare like for like. Some fans have pointed out that Karty just stands there until the ball has been placed, (giving the defense a fraction longer to get closer to the kick).

The bears and giants instilled ps kickers, and the niners and falcons replaced theirs. So, five teams so far this year. Is this higher than normal?

It's hard to determine what normal is. If a team has issues with kicking it makes sense with a huge PS to bring someone else in and see if there's an obvious solution. I remember the Rams having issues some years ago and having 3 Ks during preseason. None of them worked out, and nor did they guy that replaced them. The 5th choice ended up being a ProBowl K. Then he got expensive so... . It's all cyclical. The Rams have an issue with both FG blocking and the K. It's been a problem since training camp and if the ST coach can't sort it soon he'll be replaced.

I actually really wanted us to bring Mevis in last offseason. Huge leg. Looked awful in camp with the Jets though.
