You're right, it is a good matchup, just not for this Hawks fan

I think that It’s great that they both travel internationally since players say those games take a lot out of them. Now we just have to try to avoid getting one of those games too

Well, the possibility that they get hijacked by the Grandson of DB Cooper and he has them fly to Argentina and holds both teams for ransom could happen, Heard they sent the Ransom note to the Seahawks also, wonder how long they will be gone :)

Hell of a matchup for that one. Hopefully they both come back super tired. Hopefully the BOTH lose.
Hear! Hear! I'll be going to Melbourne for it, with my very close friend who is a 49er fan. I was hoping the Seahawks would be there, of course! Actually, the Treasurer in the currently elected South Australian government barracks for us, I recall, as he mentioned it quite a while back, when they were maybe hoping Adelaide could try and bid for it.

They would have had no chance, up "against" Melbourne. It will be at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) which has a capacity of just over 100,000. One problem is that a cricket ground/Australian Rules ground is oval shaped, and far bigger than a gridiron. It is 190 yards long and 162 yards wide, so the playing surface will be quite distant from the crowd line.

Kroenke loves him some international dominance. Remember, he also owns Arsenal.

He will forever be trying to make the Rams global.

Prior to Covid, Rams were about to play the Niners in China per some rumors. So, this is not surprising.

Also, Rams in Melbourne was announced last year, we just didn’t know the opponent.

ETA: some rumors have this game on Wednesday, Week 1

Depends on who buys the Hawks.

Kroenke and Khan have been all in for international expansion for their teams, and therefore support their teams playing these games.

What will the Seahawks owner think?

DB Cooper - what a story! I know he is/was simply a criminal, but.. well, what a story! I wonder how many people have heard of him?

I would be surprised if it was Week 1 because the travel will require a bye week to overcome. Normally the 1st bye week is Week 4. Having a bye week in Week 2 would be a further disadvantage.

An alternative would be to schedule both teams to play on Thanksgiving Day. That way they'd could have 10 days to travel to Australia and then have a bye week after that. I doubt the NFL will do that either.

Melbourne is 5 hours earlier than Pacific Time so there's a strong chance the game would be at 12:20 Melbourne time, 17:20 Pacific time, 20:20 Eastern time. IE Sunday Night Football. The clocks go back in Melbourne the 1st Sunday in October whereas in the US it will be November 1st. Playing the game between those 2 dates would increase the time differential to 6 hours, so i'm guessing the game won't happen between those dates.

I go to Australia twice a month. To be honest, heading west from the west coast is easier on my body than going to Europe. The flight can be brutal in coach, but these players will all have lay flats. Take off at about 11pm, watch a movie, eat some dinner, take an ambien and sleep for 7 hours, wake up and eat breakfast and you will be close to starting down.

I agree it can’t be week one as a following bye is mandatory. My bet is one team has a Thursday night game the week prior and the other team has a Monday night game the following week after the bye.

Tough game to lose off the schedule for Rams STH’s.
