Raiders/PC after this season

Pete isn't the GM. Just because he wanted his guy, didn't mean Spytek, Brady, Davis, etc all were forced to sign off on it. There should be shared blame for that.

It's funny because you not only have Geno but also Stone, Tyler and Jamal Adams.
There is probably another couple I missed, clearly Pete pushed for his Hawk favorites
and got what he wanted.

I might be wrong about this, but didn't Tom Brady veto the idea of the Raiders bringing in Darnold as their QB? And how much of a role did Brady play in the hiring of PC as coach? It's rumored that Brady's first choice for a HC was Ben Johnson, but that Johnson obviously preferred the Bears HCing job. And who bears the biggest responsibility for the Jeanty pick when they had so many other important needs to fill?

I bring this up because Mark Davis gave Brady a sweetheart deal to become a minority owner in the franchise largely because, I assume, he wanted to rely on his expertise, reputation, and connections around the league to get the franchise headed in the right direction after their move to Vegas. How much responsibility does Tom Brady bear in the choices that were made and in how poorly this season turned out? Kind of an interesting question to me.

Well, no guarantee Darnold would succeed in Vegas as he turns the ball over a lot even on a good team, but at least they’d have a third rounder. They should have traded down for more picks, maybe they could have sniped Zabel and Emmanwori for themselves. Instead they have to deal with a sieve for an o-line and zero hope for the near future.

They clearly need a rebuild. He's not trying to be part of one of those at his age. The Raiders will probably let him "resign" out of respect.

He insisted on "win now" with the Hawks, and he had to be shown the door. He was brought in to immediately put the Raiders on the right path, and there's just no way he's the right guy for the job.
If the choice is waste a season to let Pete coach another year or get rid of him and start a true rebuild I think the choice is obvious.

As bad as the talent and team are this year, and what a helpless roster it may have been, trading for Geno is ironically the nail in Pete's coffin. Leads the league with 17 INT's, flips off the fan base, pouts on the sidelines and feels sorry for himself, argues with reporters and diverts blame - how can you possibly win or build a culture around Geno? You can tell after they got smoked week 2 on MNF primetime, and they pan to Geno pouting on the bench the season is already over.

I'm not sure they're a playoff team by any means with a different QB, but definitely not the worst record in the league either and Pete would have gotten more time. Maybe it's for the better though as they'll get Mendoza for it.
