You think Pete's gonna hang on there after this disaster of a season they've had?

They clearly need a rebuild. He's not trying to be part of one of those at his age. The Raiders will probably let him "resign" out of respect.

I'm thinking he's gone. I lean toward them cutting ties with Geno, too, after they pick a QB in next spring's draft. They save money in the form of salary with him, and the dead money CAP hit isn't that big or much of a problem.

Basically, I think they're going to move on from the PC/Geno experiment.

I'm a huge Pete fan and have been very quick to defend him on here over the past several years, but no, there's no way he can survive this season. That team is beyond garbage, and while it's not ALL on him, he has failed this year by every metric. He has simply not done what he was brought in to do. I don't see any rationale for the Raiders giving him a second season.

I just hope this doesn't obliterate his HOF chances. Like, if he was going to make it before this season, I hope this season didn't change that.

Pete isn't the GM. Just because he wanted his guy, didn't mean Spytek, Brady, Davis, etc all were forced to sign off on it. There should be shared blame for that.

Where does geno end up if he goes? Or is he done as a starter?

He should get fired, if he had any decency he'd retire. But he won't, his arrogance wont let him. He'll continue to coach until he gets run. Again.

I actually think they’ll give him one more yr for a full rebuild, they were already rebuilding and I’m sure Pete probably wants to see it through.

On a side note, saddens me to see Lockett in A raiders jersey.

Not sure they'll trust pete with Mendoza, especially if he has no clue how to fix the oline. Would be someone offensive minded. I'm not sure who though, most candidates are defensive minded other than kubiak

No way Pete is returning. He looks completely defeated. I saw part of his presser and he brought up the week 1 win over New England. When you have to reach that far back for something positive, you're done.

I lean toward the Raiders letting PC go. The whole PC/Geno/change-the-culture experiment was a big failure. The questions would be will there be quality coaches available, and would they want the job? They do have some positives to sell. They will likely draft one of the top two QB's in the draft. They will have a decent CAP to work with. And they've got spanking new facilities.

The Raiders have a terrible roster, and had a series of bad injuries that wiped out their offensive line. Still, when you see the difference that a good coach can have on a team immediately, it kind of looks like Pete's done.

I don't want to say it's just an age thing, but it does seem like Pete's lost his edge. I don't think that he's as innovative as he used to be. When he came to the Seahawks, he brought a lot of new ideas and philosophies to the NFL. Those concepts have long been incorporated by a lot of coaches at this point, and Pete hasn't continued to adapt and come up with new ones. (Not that we expect people to continue to evolve as they get into their 70s.) Being an NFL head coach is an incredible grind, and I'm not sure that many people in their 70s would be up to it, much less be able to innovate at a high level.

Also, I think that beginning in his last few years with the Seahawks, Pete seems to have lost his ability to find, hire and develop good assistants. He used to have Quinn, Saleh, Bevel, Canales, etc. on his staff, this year, he hired, then fired Chip Kelly. Something's definitely different with Pete from 15 years ago.

(Let me add here that I hope that I'm wrong.)
