If Lane doesnt play in 2015, or lets say starts PUP'd then cant make it back onto the field in that eligible practice time-line then he wont accrue another season towards free agency.

Meaning Lane in the worst likely scenario of recovery will be an RFA in 2016, instead of UFA?

Thurmond:

Since the Substance Abuse Policy has been reticfied, does this help Thurmond in any way.

The prior SAP had three stages testing at 5 ng/ml.

1) 4 game fine
2) 4 game suspension
3) 1 year ban

The current one has 5 stages testing at 35 ng/ml.

1) 2 game fine
2) 4 game fine
3) 4 game suspension
4) 10 game suspension
5) 1 year ban

Is Thurmond now in stage 2 like he was previously or does he automatically convert to stage 3?

My understanding is Lane will be a UFA. Assuming he is on the roster He would only lose an accrued season if he missed games related to PUP as a result of a non-football injury, the practice squad or suspension.
