Nice move. Love it. Blair and Diggs should be the new starters on the back end one would think. Unless they're planning on going with Blair and McDougald with Diggs in the nickel. Hill and Thompson have been massive disappointments. Hill is always injured and he's never shown off his big time hitting ability he was known for in college. I don't care about his his two picks, Thompson just flat out sucks.

Cut Tedric Thompson plz

Thanks for the link. Im impressed. I have hardly seen any Detroit games and really havent seen him play at all. Kid is versatile.

Why would they let him go for hardly anything. That doesnt make sense. It feels like a huge addition.

Amazing trade, JS does it again!

Only a 5th rd pick in swap for a 7th!

Managable cap number, team control for 2.5 seasons.

Diggs is a guy who can play single high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't expect the Seahawks to overhaul their defense overnight, but i expect them to slowly start creeping back into single high looks as the season goes on.

Most importantly they have upgraded the weakest link on the defense. I commented post-game about the young secondary, but I left TT out for obvious reasons. Now adding Diggs gives them a very solid to above avg back end.

LC - Griffin
SS - Blair/McDougald
FS - Diggs
RC - Flowers
NB - Needs to be upgraded. (Diggs may play here a little bit if McDougald can get healthy.)

He came in at a low price apparently because he has injury concerns, and the Lions like their young safeties behind him.

Well that's a risk I am willing to take for a day 3 draft pick.

This is great news Thompson is awful so glad we won't have to see him on the field much longer.

I love the trade. A+

That being said the Lions need a Running Back. It would have been even
Better to keep the 5th and give them Penny.

Tedric also didn't contain the 4th down run TD by Jackson either...This great news! Only thing better if we can somehow trade Thompson for a draft pick.

Maybe we should try to get Beasley for cheap.

Evan's numbers appear to be a little off ..... as I review it.

2019 ..... $1,601,437 .... prorated salary left outstanding

2020 ..... $5,200,000

2021 ..... $5,550,000

OTC lists Diggs 2019 analytic valuation at $3,661,000

Detroit Lions will take a dead cap hit of $3,583,334 (last 2 years of prorated signing bonus) in 2020.

Great info. Follow-up question: Would cutting him in 2020 or 2021 hit us with any dead money?

Lions fans are going crazy. Good Stuff

Hard to blame them, Diggs was one of their best players on defense and very popular in the locker room..........and hey, I can't even imagine being a Lions fan.

I mean, we complain about the dark times here, but it pales in comparison to what Lion fans have been through. ONE playoff win since 1957.

*cold shiver*

Does put things in perspective. We are losing our junk at a 5-2 record.

Which means absolutely nothing when you consider 2 10-win teams will likely miss the playoffs from the NFC this season.

Well that should even things up a bit for the Tate trade now, Avril and now Diggs.

Will be interested to see how he adapts and is used.

Tate/Coleman or Avril/Diggs :stirthepot:
We didn't trade Tate nor trade for Avril, either.
Both of those were FA acquisitions if I'm not mistaken.
I'm sure a heap of us would love Coleman right about...since the beginning of the season.

None.

In a trade, a player's remaining prorated signing bonus is the responsibility of his former team. The Lions are eating $5.375M in dead money by my calculation

And Diggs has no guaranteed money left on his contract... so, no, there is no potential dead money to the Hawks.

At least he has highlights; not sure all of our current safeties together could beat that.

Interesting bit at 2:50; "Reminds me so much of Earl Thomas and their both from Texas..."

Just read an article on the trade about the Lions players. I don't watch nearly enough games to know players on other teams, but the article got me pumped. Then I read another one about Blair earning more playing time so all-in-all seems like a pretty good day.

Not just pass coverage. Watching Jackson run around our D-backfield Sunday was a bit disconcerting.

I hope this guy can tackle.
