Projected 2026 Cap space announced

It's a beautiful thing to be in late January and to be talking about the next year when our year still isn't even over.

2025 Cap was $279 million. 2026 will be between $301 and $306 million.

According to the chart we have close to the highest amount of cap space next year. I'm not sure how accurate these team cap projections are but we have many levers we can pull to clear more space and not a lot left of our own guys to resign. And some people say JS needs to go.

They look at the overall cap number and see that as the max amount for each player they sign. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

If they were continually cheating the salary cap they would get caught. This isn't the 49er dynasty era where this could easily occur. Contract details are public and there are websites such as overthgcap that makes it easy to understand cap impacts of the contracts. Maybe they cheat in other ways, but beating the salary cap drum just makes Seahawks fans look stupid.

49ers were getting creative a few years ago and were caught and told no, you can't do that either,it was clever and creative, a way to give value of something but not actual money. Can't remember the exact scheme.

Many teams use the cap as a cyclical process. They overspend every year until they reach a point where they tear everything down and go with the cheapest options for a year or 2 to develop young cheap talent. The Saints pushed everything to the limit in the Brees era and continue to spend everything they can, every year, even though they have far less resources available to them.

There are always going to be a few teams who have developed young, cheap talent who have a multi-year window open and more cap space available to them. The Saints philosophy is to perpetually fight for a top 14 spot and then hope to get lucky.
