Fields...hes young and has at least that for an upside..he can run too. He could be the modern day slash
Kordell. Russ is on one of the biggest career nose dives in nfl history. He can't run...can't throw up the middle...has an ego larger than life. He is not even a decent back up at this point. This is last year in the league. Hof is completely out of the question now...

Yeah Russ is a total train wreck now. Sad. He once was our beloved Russ. Now he’s a has-been caricature, desperately trying to find his legacy that ends in Canton and the little hope to do so. Too slow, too thick, too one dimensional.

Fields has the youth, feet and speed. Make plays from nothing like Russ used to do for us. To me, the answer is easy. Fields.

The Stealers should have just committed to Fields. Should not even have had a QB comp. I think Stealers will win more w/ Russ but there is really no upside in having him for just 1 year. Russ should have went to the Vikings. I think Russ will play till the trade deadline and will be release to go to a team that needs a qb.

On a side note, if I'm the Niners, I'm seriously using Pittsburgh's QB situation as leverage against EyePuke. "You really wanna catch passes from either of these clowns? Have at it. We made our final offer. Take it or leave it, asshole."

Man..if the Stealers team doesn't pan out for Russ..where does he go from there? Time to hang up the cleats? I don't see him taking a backup role with that heavy ego on his shoulders.
Agreed. And even if DangerPuss would take a backup job, I really doubt any GM in their right mind would invite that cornball into their locker room. Not well liked by teammates, shirks responsibility at every turn and goofier than a football bat. I think this is the last season of RW's career.

I am hard pressed to think of a previous Super Bowl winning highly regarded QB who's star status fell so spectacularly as Russ's in this short a time frame - from the trade in 2022 to now. I don't recall Eli's couple of years following his 2nd super bowl, but maybe him? I don't count guys like Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer in that they were considered one-offs in Super Bowl wins vs potential hall of famers or top 10 QBs

Definitely worthy of a 30 for 30 episode...except that would just be more driven material for Russ. I think when it's all said and done it'll be remembered how much Pete, Lynch, and the all time great defense carried Russ and made him look great...and overall how unappreciative he was of it.

First thought was Fields because he probably gives them the best long(er) term chance.

Then I thought nah, F that, it’s the Steelers we are talking about. Russ for sure. I’d love to watch the ongoing car wreck.

Then I thought, who am I kidding, I’m never watching Steeler’s games, and as much as watching Russ crash more is, it probably is even worse for him to not make it into the starter role over Justin Fields.

I bet one or the other will be sent to Minny.

I would love to see a real quarterback controversy, with Russ starting but the Steelers losing, and fans clamoring for a change. The main thing is that I want the Steelers to lose and their fans to lose their minds. That's always fun. It was so entertaining in Denver and it will be more so in Pittsburgh.

For the sake of our die-hard Russ fans, I hope he wins the job. They spent all of the offseason telling us that Russ was actually good last year and that his only problem in Denver was his relationship with Sean Payton. Having him fail to win the starting job on a minimum contract would be tragic.

Putting all emotion aside about the Steelers and RW, I think RW should start. They can always go to Fields down the line, but for Fields to start and lose the job to RW would be a worse situation for them, IMO.

That is basically what I'm thinking as well.
Just let him start the first few games and see what happens.

Are we getting a poll option for the lounge and shack, too? Would be nice to have that again.
