Pick 175: Robbie Ouzts

It’s funny on the outside looking in just how many draft graders absolutely hate this pick.

I feel like the majority of fans who don’t GAF about positional value absolutely love the selection.

5th round on a FB? Oh, honey… you could have just waited after the draft.

But in reality if you were paying attention to the draft there was a very shortlist of players that you felt had the moxie, toughness, know how, and want to, to be an elite human battering ram.

Ouzts was 1a and a just a few picks before that 1b was taken off the board in Hawes. Not only that several teams going into the 6th round had picks to waste on specialists and there was easily a chance to lose out on the last elite FB option.

Everyone knows just how important the Fullbacks are to a ZBS and how much it can be just a wasted position and stagnant your running attack if you don’t have high quality or hesitant quality at the position.

Drafting Ouzts there wasn’t about BPA or value as much as it was Kubiak putting the stamp on the envelope of his vision in fixing the run game. Without paying the price for your stamp, you aren’t sending anything anywhere.

So, I’m laughing at these F grades people are giving us for Ouzts because if the Seahawks are able to re-vitalize their smash-mouth, physical run game identity of yore or in the very least just able to hit more explosive runs at a greater clip like you’d expect from an outside Zone, who TF you think the powder keg is gonna be trying to blow shiz up and making it possible?

The way this roster is coming together, dayum. This team is going to be VERY physical. Just the way Coach Mike wants. Pete turned his team around his way when he came here. Now we have Mike doing the same exact thing. Pretty damn impressed with Mike so far.
And with all the pitchfork level stuff about JS? He had one hell of a draft, plus what lead up to it. Getting a 3 for Geno? A 2 for DK? All while they BOTH wanted out of here? Brilliant.
And I can't say I haven't been pretty frustrated with John.

I would say that it's early but.....the draft is done and UDFA is pretty much done and he's basically hit a Homerun.

Yeah sure...the Milroe pick is...debatable (depending on whom you ask) but overall this draft has been perhaps his most successful one to date.

Though I have to be frank with you, fish : Had he been successful in doing his usual "trading down", we would've missed out on Zabel and probably even Donovan Jackson...so thank god no one wanted to "play ball" there. It essentially saved JS from himself (and also saved his job, imo).

It’s funny how people complain about taking guys here or there, and then there’s things like “oh 7th round is nothing,” Brock purdy is picked last and called mister irrelevant yet teams always end up with undrafted guys making the team. I’d say the 7th round is where you steal guys

When your FB i8s knocking DE's in the dirt on chip blocks I would worry, how many LB's will want to get in this guys box to get unloaded on. Then on other plays while they are trying to get out of his way a dump pass and he rumbles on them.

I wasn't too thrilled about the pick, not because of the player, but just because I thought he could've been an UDFA, but after seeing his highlights, I have changed my tune on him, I'm gonna have to redact the grade I gave the pick. I love his attitude, you see him get pumped the f up every time he nails a block, not many people love blocking, but this guy sure does, he even said he likes a good block more than TD's.
