I don't know about other people's opinions of the guy, but I wouldn't be upset if he just rode off into the sunset of retirement.
If you read his comments, they are almost all flawed. Hunter deserves it, but not a couple months after he leaves. Hell, there's only 4 other guys from the 125 years of football that have made their HOF and only one guy from their national championship season. No Eric Bienemy, Kordell Stewart, not even Rae Carruth!
What I'm counting on happening is Coach Prime packing up his circus as soon as he gets a better offer and leaving in a cloud of dust...the only thing that will be left of him will be his son's name in the HOF, with the ink barely dried.
Such an attention whore!

I guess they are special, like Deion... true superstars before their time. I wouldn't draft Shadeur at all. I get a vibe of Watson from him. Or Johnny Manziel.

I'll bite on this. Prime is trying to show kids if they come to him and they are deserving, they will get their number "retired". There will be a whole ceremony during their spring games where they "retire" the jersey and number and showcase the talent that they have had. I wouldnt be surprised if they do a different ceremony during the regular season to retire and actual player honestly, especially with all the backlash.

I will also say, I think Shadeur will do ok in the nfl, but not of he is forced to start in the next year or two. He seems like he really wants to be good and will put the effort in to do so. We will see though!

Not disagreeing, but Rae Carruth pretty much torpedoed any chance of being honored for ANYTHING.

Eventually you run out of numbers. One more important point is, would you want your number retired? Or want to wear that number because of the class and excellence it represents? Tell me which would attract an athlete looking to become the absolute best He could be, or come to your University?

So I was basically saying they will put a banner with the players name and number up. Hence the "retire". Who knows though

So, the university retiring Sanders jersey ultimately is trying to say he was a better player than the rest of the players, and they are the reason for the losses. If Sanders goes to the NFL and has a long and successful career maybe, but it’s still a bad look for a desperate university. Maybe they thought they had to do this to keep Prime from leaving…?

But, in Sanders' defense, he is a true Christian who, some years ago, "got on (his) knees and gave it all to the Lord", humbly exclaiming that power, money, sex, and success had nearly ruined his life. He lives for the Lord now, not himself.

That, only works if he gives all of his wealth to thy Lord. And no excuses like oh I can manage the wealth better than thy Lord's servants.

I don't deny that the kid can play, and he's a really accurate passer. But he had a record of 13-11 and was 1-7 vs. ranked teams. Yet, he's getting his # retired? Lame.
And his dad, who thinks he's god, is going to be massively involved in sh** he should keep out of. Let your son make his own damn decisions.

The father was a great player on the field. Off the field, personal life, etc., he isn't good.
