  • When: 8:20 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 12
  • How to watch: ESPN/ABC

The league schedule makers didn't let Russell Wilson's return to Seattle linger. Week 1 will conclude with the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback's anticipated return to play his old squad, which traded him to the Broncos in the offseason. Wilson, who will officially become the first quarterback to play for a team he previously defeated in a Super Bowl when he suits up for Denver, will also become just the fifth quarterback in NFL history to win at least 100 games with a franchise and then play against them. Emotions and anticipation are sure to be high before, during and after this one, as the buildup, the game and the postgame handshake between Wilson and Pete Carroll are all sure to be must-see TV.

Also Announced Week 2 @ Niners

  • Where: Levi's Stadium | Santa Clara, Calif.
  • When: 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 18
  • How to watch: FOX

San Francisco enters 2022 with lofty expectations after a run to the NFC Championship Game, but when it faces the rival Seahawks, there will be a far different feel. The 49ers are projected to have Trey Lance starting at quarterback rather than Jimmy Garoppolo, while the Seahawks won't have Russell Wilson starting a season for them for the first time in a decade. No matter who's under center, Kyle Shanahan's Niners are looking to snap a four-game losing streak to Pete Carroll's 'Hawks.

It’s a good thing Russel Wilson is a slow starter. At least he has been most of his career. We might be able to get him at the right spot.

Smart marketing move.

Pays off an off season storyline while it’s still fresh and before interest in either team wanes.

More than likely this game got easier with Jeudy's arrest. With domestic violence involved, he probably gets a six game suspension.

Whoa, we play against the mighty Wilson who we've never faced before! Hope Seahawks are scouting him out so they know how to game plan against him! :sarcasm:

It'll be interesting to see how much the Seahawks go with two-high-safety coverage ("Cover 2"), especially on "passing downs."

Anticipating our starting lineup will be including a lot of new and young players I don't see the early date matchup being in our best interest. It takes a while for rooks to get up to nfl level play. If we're going to actually win that game our Defense will have to be REALLY good.

Week #1 is usually unpredictable and a huge cluster because starters barely play in the preseason. This will probably be Wilson's first real action as a Bronco.

I anticipate a vocal, noisy crowd when the the Denver offense is on the field. I hope our rookies will be prepped for this.

Russ usually starts hot, like he did @ ATL that one year, then fades later in the season.

However, the coaching staff should know his tendencies and have a solid gameplan to limit the big plays.

12s getting into his head early and often can't hurt either.

Need the W to start this season on a good note.

No not typically. The offense in general usually takes time to get going, this has been true the majority of his career. He nearly as likely to throw for under 200 yards as he is to throw over.

I'm expecting the networks to reshape a Seattle home game into a televised promotion of the Denver Broncos.

NFL executives thought Russell Wilson return to Seattle on first Monday of season “felt right” "NFL V.P. of broadcasting Onnie Bose said the decision “felt right.” The selection was motivated by the fact that ESPN and ABC will simulcast the game. Bose also pointed to the ESPN2 Manningcast of the game, especially given the unique experiences of former Colts and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Russ knows how loud the 12s can get, but hes never been on the receiving end on it, plus the fact that he is Russ Wilson, will take the noise to a whole new level !!!!!!!!!!!! 👑 👑👑
