There's an article up now with quotes from the radio show, I liked this one best :th2thumbs:

"When I came in for camp they made me come in with the rookies as a fourth-year guy. I knew something was up. I was kinda ticked off about that. I ended up having a conversation with my agent. My agent said he'll talk to the player personnel. They said, 'Oh, everything's fine, we've got big plans for O'Brien and whatever he's reading, it's not true,' " Schofield recalled.

"So the next day, first day of camp, we go up for the conditioning test. The media's out there, my team's out there stretching. I go out to stretch and they pull me aside and basically cut me on the field. Didn't talk to anybody – no GM, no coach, no nothing. When I was walking I saw my coach; he just kinda moved right out the way, he didn't say nothing to me. So that made me mad."

So...There was a way to cut him that would've made him happy?

Apparently we have an AZ troll stopping by? Yes, there are appropriate ways to dismiss players.....our organization does its best to break the news as painless as possible.

Guy didn't even have a chance to win his job.

I hope he goes out and gets 12 sacks this year. That would stick it to Arizona.

No Arizona troll. Actually, A combo Hawks/Rams fan for decades. Just trying to have a little fun :) You know that old saying "It's not that she dumped me it was the way she dumped me" No, it's that she dumped you! Kind of what I was trying for :). There is no good way to get cut.

Well this team tries to open a door and give a vet time to catch on with another team or make a trade. They always compete and the players understand it but they also try to be human about things and work thru these difficulties, they have a team of people on straff just to help players handle menta aspects of the game, getting cut is one of them.

I love what I have seen from this guy so far. He looks like a very competent edge rusher. Can put the heat on.

It sucks being cut, but to think that your coach or someone with higher personnel wouldn't tell you and just avoid you knowing that they've already made the decision to cut you is really bad way to do it. Again, there's no real nice way of doing it, but there certainly are ways you can make it worse and this is one of them. They essentially treated him like a rookie when he's a vet, then just pulled him aside to tell him he's gone when he's stretching at practice. Management should've just sat him down and told him straight up, that would've been the best way. Not the most classy move.
