I get the math when down by 14, but down by 18? I guess you need a 2 point conversion at some point to get within 3 but shouldn't it be the next TD so you know exactly what you need?

If you need a 2pt conversion in theory, you want to attempt it as early as possible. Now they know they need two teeders with the most time possible on the clock to get them.
