It is kinda weird in the fact that MJ is now a medicine. It legitimately helps some people with a variety of problems. I think calling people druggies for smoking weed is pretty close minded.

That being said, these guys absolutely know the rules and it doesn't vary from state to state, nor should it. Just follow the rules as stated, make your millions, retire on a ton of Thai Sticks and ride off into the sunset.

Marijuana DUI Arrests UP 50 Percent Since Legalization...

The Washington State Patrol normally stops about 1,000 motorists annually for driving under the influence of marijuana.

According to new data released by the WSP this week, some 745 drivers tested positive for pot in just the last six months.

If that average continues, it would mean just under 1,500 drivers nabbed in 2013 — about a 50 percent increase over 2012.

or it just means that prior to being legalized, it simply wasn't standard practice to administer a marijuana test to every person pulled over. But I'm sure that now that its legal all the weed users have suddenly just decided to get high and drive in droves. .
Just a few months after being legalised my younger brother and a group of young kids were convinced smoking pot was a ok because " hey its legal now!" they then started driving while high too(apparently their decision making was impaired go figure). So I don't think you can say that legalization and higher amounts of arrest for dui is not related in any way.

Are they 21+?

If so, they're idiots just like drunk drivers.

If not, they're still breaking the law, and are idiots like young drunk drivers.

Moral of the story, don't drive high. If you're capable of operating a motor vehicle legally, one would presume you're intelligent enough to know you can't drive high or drunk.

The only thing that has really increased is officer scrutiny. 5 nanograms is nothing.

In my opinion, the NFL shouldn't ban substances unless they are illegal in all of the states that have franchises. It is unfair to the Seahawks and I guess the Broncos to have their players tested and possibly suspended for marijuana use if they are not breaking the laws of Washington or Colorado by partaking. The NFL should either change their list of substances or make jurisdictional exceptions. I'd like to hear other people's opinions. I have more to write, but will stop now. I have an appointment with a dude at the VMAC to buy some dope. Brandon and Walter told me he is offering some new strains. 8)

No.

So I'm guessing you dont drink Tech Worlds? Good on you for staying completely clean of any substances.

But I say the same thing as you most of the time but more like "You drinkers kill me.. " And guesse waht.. one day they may actually do that. Its the same point thats been made for decades, one is less harmful than the other, studies have shown this. But of course, the government makes butt loads of cash off the taxes for the sale of beer wine liqour etc.

Once they federal government comes up with a sustainable plan that they can tax this product they will.

Federally regulated land here.. (ie: Washington DC) now has medical marijuana.. They can only remain hypocritical as far as the government goes for so long.

Im shocked no one has brought up the most relevant reason why the NFL would never do this; weed is still illegal federally. I dont think the NFL would ever legalize it in WA and CO because in essence they would be starting a fight with the US gov. Also, theres the issue that players traded from the Sehawks and Broncos would be more likely to become mentally addicted to weed, and keep smoking wherever they are traded. Thats why I dont think any owners would really support a motion like that at all. And Roger certainly wouldnt. So its a big "NO" imo.

1) You are right it is not legal according to to Federal law
2) You are wrong the NFL can NEVER legalize weed. They can at any point make it not prohibited and not test for it. There are no rules that they must test for it if they choose not to. Not like they are hiring truck drivers and citizens would have a case to sue them for players being high.

If the Federal Government actually legalized pot then there could be a potential issue for the NFL. Private companies could still do whatever the heck they wanted but the NFL operates under an Antitrust Exemption. It could conceivably be argued by a player that while a private company they are prohibiting something that is legal and there are no other employers that they could go to.

Really there is NO difference having a couple drinks at night in your home or smoking a joint, none!

a real home field advantage would be to pump weed smoke into the opponents locker room.

You guys all crack me up. Do you just randomly pick a post to respond to or do you read it first? I personally don't care about drug use. I have been to NFL games on LSD on multiple occasions. The point of this thread was to suggest that the NFL should have different rules for players in different states. Why then should that same courtesy not be extended to ALL residents of that state, regardless of profession?

I would much rather he not be doing either. How bout the Seahawks just learn to lay off the weed like most other responsible adults.

Eh, this is a hard one for me. On one hand, these players are under a lot of pressure. HUGE! If weed can help them relax and shrug off some of the pressure then I'm for it. We don't want more players committing suicide, becoming alcoholics, or having mental breakdowns. Weed is habit forming, but not truly addictive in the way other drugs are.

On the other hand, these are Professional Athletes and they are role models for the rest of the country. As such, they need to set a positive example.

So really, what needs to be fixed is the social stigma on Marijuana. Once it becomes acceptable enough, then it won't be considered setting a bad example and the NFL will probably relax it's rules.

I would argue that it does seem extra burdensome to players in states it's "legal". They would have much greater pressure to consume the drug.

Personally I don’t believe that smoking pot is any worse than taking prescribed pain killers however it is against league rules so you can’t do it if you wish to be employed in the league. It wouldn’t matter if it were peanut butter instead of pot. If it’s against league rules don’t do it if you want to stay employed. Browner is going to miss his shot at a Super Bowl because he broke league rules.

He was busted twice. Supposedly by all the people that like weed it is not addictive (yeah right) so it was just a choice

He f-ed himself, his family and the team. I am not going to be an idiot like some and blame the organization or teammates etc etc but he deserves the blame. He alone opted to take the risk and he will pay the price and I am pretty sure that he will regret it for the rest of his life. Sure he will still light it up but he will regret his decision. He lost MILLIONS that he would have made next year.........

Lets also not forget we have no idea what he was busted for. We just assume it was weed because that is innocent enough

who says it will be legal for them to go to work under the influence?

Just like alcohol which can be done recreationally but you can not do it on the job.

I am a cop. Of course we can't go to work under the influence of anything. I drink as much as the next guy but not before or at work. We have also been told our department is to adhere to federal law when it comes to weed. No weed saves my job and I only make a tiny fraction of what these guys make. Yet, still I don't do it. They are idiots and don't realize how good they got it for the next few years.

Most of us have to work 30 years then still worry about making it in retirement. These knuckleheads can make multi millions in just a few short years then smoke themselves to the moon if they want.

Million dollar talents coupled with 10 cent brains.
