I disagree with you.

I also disagree with your belief that people are obligated to respond to every detail of every opinion you express.

I don't think I have expressed that belief at any point, but if that is the impression I gave you, I am sorry. Feel free to respond or not respond at your own discretion. I just take the stand point this is a forum used to express, compare/contrast, debate, etc.

Anyway, how I read this last post of yours is as such: you don't have any substantial evidence or reasoning for your belief, or you lack the capability or confidence to express it. If you really feel the Rams are the better team, you should be able to express yourself, no? I can give you a run down of the two teams in question if you like, position by position, to illustrate why I hold the opinion I do. I mean, we are here to talk football, correct?

No, but they should be prepared for a rebuttal if they plan on having a discussion.

You dont just state your position in then say thats it. If you dont have the motivation to defend your position through discussion, then why do you even need to post your position? Whats the point. If your not going to back it up, then no once cares.

Geez, and some people call me argumentative.

You can definitely just post an opinion and walk away. That doesn't mean you "won" anything, but there's certainly no requirement or obligation to "defend 'til the end" just by virtue of making a post.

No, that's not it at all. I just don't think its necessary to go position-by-position through the Rams and Panthers rosters in order to express an opinion on which team will be better in 2013. If you want to go through such an exercise, be my guest.

I will say that I'd rather have Sam Bradford than Cam Newton (which I'm sure will generate significant dissent), I'd rather have the Rams young group of WRs than the Panthers' group, I think the Rams have a better pass rush, and I think they have a better secondary.

Is that enough for you? If not, too bad.

Just to be clear, you didn't give any reasoning what so ever. Which, fine, you are free to post what you want. But, I will tell you, it is very hard to take a guy serious not only about his team, but about football in general, if they can't back up their claims. You feel free to post one offs like that, but it just shows that you most likely don't have or can't give a good reason as to why you think what you do.

Roland to the rescue.

Im simply stating that if you post something in a topic. And someone responds with why? And you dont want to tell them. Then there ceases to be a discussion. So then what was the point of posting at all if you dont want to discuss anything.

Just so you can look at the read count and know that that many people read what you were thinking? bravo.

I find your love (or at least undying devotion) to Bradford humorous. While Cam Newton has some leadership problems, I think there are very few teams in the league that wouldn't be improved by his athletic ability. The Panthers WR group leaves a lot to be desired, but so does STL. There are no proven WRs or TEs on the team (Cook doesn't count). At least CAR has Smith, who I will admit is over the hill, and Olsen. LaFell and Edwards may not be as highly touted as Austin, but they are at least comparable to Givens, Quick, Pettis, etc. As for pass rush, yes STL has a good pass rush, but CAR is no slouch. Hardy and Johnson out sacked Quin and Long last year, and CAR's front seven arguably made a much bigger improvement this year than STL. STL has a better secondary, but not because STL's secondary is all that great, but because CAR's is so bad.

So in short, while your opinions are valid, I think the suppositions that you are making are incorrect.

The Rams had 52 sacks last year. The Panthers had 39. Not sure how you can assert that the Rams front 7 has not made an improvement, given that Michael Brockers will only get better in his second (and first healthy) season, and they added Alec Ogletree.

Suffice to say, we're not going to agree on this. I still give the edge to the Rams.

The Rams had a deeper list of pass rushers true. But the total of the top 3 guys on each team are essentially equal. If you don't think CAR made a more significant jump in defense, I am not sure what to say. STL has a good front seven, but not so good as to say it wins that conversation hands down.

So what? The goal is to have lots of sacks, not lots of sacks by a few guys. The Rams have a BETTER PASS RUSH OVERALL. That is what matters.

Last year, correct? Aren't we talking about this up coming year?

The Rams have all their pass rushers back, plus Alec Ogletree.
