Was a preseason game.

Think about how different things would be right now if Wilson had flubbed that 3rd preseason game against the Chiefs? Imagine if TO was dropping 5 passes in a row for Wilson as he had Flynn the week before. Or if Wilson had just had an off day?

Maybe Seattle keeps Tjack around and starts him the first couple weeks while Flynn's elbow heals. While I think Carroll always believed in Wilson, Carroll is notoriously careful with QBs and only starts rookie QBs when no better choice is available. Wilson forced that choice with an epic game.

I bet Flynn has a solid season. Seattle might still make the playoffs, and maybe they even win a playoff game. But we would have never seen the best young QB in the NFL take off on rocket boots.

Pretty cool how even back then, you knew something BIG had just happened. And it looks even bigger in retrospect.

I doubt that. Pete was going to name him starter anyway. He won in in training camp but likely won it on draft day.

I feel like for the small sample size of what we have seen of Flynn, I am unsure as to how I think he would produce over the course of a full season. My expectation would probably have been set at 8-8 for Flynnie.

I'd like to go back and watch Russell perform in that KC preseason game again.

I remember coming away as being VERY impressed!!... but I don't recall him showing any of his Tarkenton-like scrambling ability inside or outside the pocket.

Hell, we were actually watching a Seahawks QB, howbeit in preseason, that could effectively lead a scoring drive!!... and several times in a row!!... and after Matt, Charlie and Tarvaris, that was such a relief and a glimmer of hope for the future.

Like I said, I'd like to go back and watch Russell again in that game.

I have saved all of the Hawks wins on My DVR for the regular season and the playoffs... but have erased the preseason games (long ago).

Pivotal games... the KC game and the end of the Bears game did it for me.

Add to that the 2nd half of the loss to the Falcons.

That game proved to me that Pete had a variety of ways that he can use Russell effectively.

Can he play from behind and get you the lead?... HELL YEAH he can. :th2thumbs:

I still seriously doubt we make the playoffs with Flynn. I don't even think we make 8-8.

The Chicago game reminded me of the NYG game in 2005.

Some flashes of brilliance before that, and you knew the capability was there, but you were never quite sure the team would do what it could game-in, game-out.

No question after the Chicago game, just like no more question in 2005 after the NYG game.

Chuck Berry introduced the electric guitar, Jimi Hendrix showed what could be done with it.

The pre-Season KC game was the Chuck Berry moment, where we were introduced to Wilson, Chicago was the Hendrix moment, where we saw what he could really do.
