16.5 sacks was very impressive in the 1998 season. Especially when you look at who the top five sacks leaders were that year:
1. Michael Sinclair - 16.5
2. Reggie White - 16.0
3(t). Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene, Michael Strahan - 15.0
Difficult to think of a better group of group of pass rushers a player in this league could have stood above at one time. He was consistent that year too, so it's not like he just backed up a crazy amount of sacks in a few games; he recorded at least one in 12 of 16 games.
Still, I'm surprised that number is still our franchise record. It ranks 81st all time now and nearly half of those came after he did it. We have really struggled to find consistent pass rushers the past few decades.
Also crazy that while Sinclair ranks 2nd in franchise history with 73.5 sacks, he's 40 short of the team record, which is the same difference between Sinclair at second and Jarran Reed at 12th. Goes to show how ridiculous Jacob Green was.
