It’s exactly what happened with Mike Kafka last year. We wanted him then Daboll gave him play calling duties and this was blocked from leaving

McCarthy's been a HC for 15 years and won a SB. You don't step back into a coordinator role after that. If the Saints job doesn't happen he'll spend a year or two in the booth and wait for a top slot to open up.
