The likely play here is Shanahan wants to pick his brain for anything that could be of potential use when we open up the season against them a week from Sunday. Doubtful much can be gleaned especially since installs and game planning won't happen until next week but perhaps he can pass on some general basic concepts, tendencies...you see it all the time across the league.

The 49ers actually need the help. They probably have the worst active wide receiver room in the league right now.

Week 1 odds (as posted by Pinnacle):

49ers -2.5 -105
Seahawks +2.5 -105

49ers to win -134
Seahawks to win +121

Over 44.5 -107
Under 44.5 -105
49ers do not have a single proven asset at defensive tackle. Charbs up the middle.
Hard to figure those odds for a season opener on the road.

Their receiver room is in shambles, but Shannahan will get the most out of them, and make them look like pro-bowlers.

If Shannahan had a lick of sense, he would play the long game, and we would be seeing a heavy dose of Robinson. He can tolerate the load, and keep McCaffery in prime running shape.

Shannahan doesn’t have a lick of sense, and McCaffery is going to run it down our throats, allowing Purdy to carve up the defense.

If, IF, McCaffery and Purdy, and the motley crew of receivers can somehow stay healthy, they do have a chance. Usually, offenses have the advantage in early season, as defenses haven’t been able to gel and run full speed.

My money is on MM having this defense humming, and disciplined, and ready. While it is young, we have solid, returning leaders in key spots.

Hawks by 10.

I hear you. These odds haven't altered in weeks. Given the injuries the 49ers have had the odds should logically have changed significantly in favour of the Seahawks. Maybe it won't be much of a road game!

Redshirts

I sure hope not.

Our defense is returning every starter from last year except Dre'mont Jones. The only new comer is Demarcus Lawrence -- and possibly Emmanwori in dime packages. Our defense will be stout while theirs is training up 6 new starters.

On offense, they still have Kittle and McCaffery. I have to believe MM will double Kittle all game to make the 9ers one dimensional. Meanwhile we will be pounding the rock like we haven't done in a decade.

I don't see how this is a competitive game.

Cough cough …. Cooper Kupp …. Cough cough 🫡
Cooper Kupp is the 26th highest paid WR. He is not our WR1. CMC is the 2nd highest paid RB, and with all your injuries, you need him to carry you offensively. But, yes, keep sticking to your bullshit strawman arguments. They'll be picked apart and dismissed as usual.

He probably gave the 9ers his illegal copy of the playbook

Which is why I have the Hawks by 10. Doesn’t mean they aren’t going to give us fits with McCaffery hitting us again and again and again.

15-20% of our offense vs 40-50% of yours. If you offered to hold out McCaffery for this game ias long as we agree to hold out Kupp, then I’m taking that every single time.

Good thing he will be the healthiest he has been since 2023 for the game then.

The 49ers are 27-10 when CMC starts

A healthy CMC is a threat no matter your level of Hawk Homerism.

I see us winning the game ofc but…
