I saw this on Reddit, I feel like this (if true) is a step in the right direction?
just because they give some foreign player 3yr/15m doesn't mean they plan on changing their ways. This is the type of contract they like

Well, let's see if it happens and let's see if it works out. This team doesn't care about winning, so I suspect he'll be average.

I know they don't care about winning, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper to bring my kids over from Idaho to watch a Mariners game vs Hawks game lol. Last year we took them and the ball guy threw a jp crawford single to my middle boys and I bet they will never forget it. I just really hope they actually do something this year so it's not a complete waste of money when they ask me to take them back this year

My Minor's plan is looking better by the day and we got the 3rd pick!

They're going to squander the best starting rotation in baseball waiting for those guys. If they just added a couple of solid bats this team would be a contender right now. They would have been a contender last season if Jerry hadn't botched last off season as badly as he did.

This is a golden opportunity to try to make a run. They haven't had a better opportunity in over 2 decades. This is the most absurd bullsh1t imaginable. There is no other team, in any sport, that would waste this kind of an opportunity to go after a championship. And yet here we are. Once again the M's are doing absolutely nothing to make one of the worst offenses in baseball any better.

But hey, at least Jerry isn't making it worse (so far) like he did last off season.

Dopey Jerry is such an awful collector of talent, that just standing still is almost a good thing. His trades never help the roster. Charlie Morton signed with Baltimore so that means Jerry won't get fleeced in a Castillo trade. They don't care about actively making a push to win, they're hoping to just get lucky like KC a few years ago, unfortunately we have Jerry in charge, so the roster will never have enough major league talent to luck into a WS run. There's literally nobody of serious impact still available other than Alonso & Bregman, obviously both are past their prime & not going to Seattle anyway. It's going to be a trade for Brandon Lowe to fill either second or third base & a re-signing of Turner. That's it guys.

I am hoping we have some rookies that might get to make their debut.
As far as no moves yet, maybe this year Jerry’s philosophy is if you want something you’ve never had you gotta do something you’ve never done….

I don't think that Hye-Seong Kim was the answer, so I don't think not getting him is a big deal.

I wonder, though, if the similarly named Ha-Seong Kim, the free agent who was the Padres' shortstop last year, would be worth signing to play second base? He would come cheaper than Gleyber Torres, in part because of a shoulder injury that might prevent him from being ready for the start of the season. He didn't have a great season last year, but he's been very good before, and he's still young. Of course, the Mariners might not be willing to pay $10 million for a major-league quality infielder.

I posted what the plan was going to be like 2-3 years ago on here.
I'm not searching and reposting, but Jerry said the plan was to draft
well and bring the talent up together.
It was a plan the Yankees did back with Jeter and company years back.
I love the idea and obviously the pitching made it up faster but now the
bats are really close.. We might not go far to please @Chapow this season
but down the road it should make a huge difference.

That's the hope, no doubt, the farm. It's the cheapest way. There's never any guarantee that young talent will pan out though, and it sure has seemed like a waste of a pitching staff these past two years.

Just curious to hear what your thoughts on the #3 pick will be. I know a lot will change between now and July. I’m hoping we go for a field player this year. We have pitching up and down the board. Just curious to see where you stand on this

I disagree. They are most likely going to take a college arm. That's the strength at the top of the draft. Plus, you have Castillo most likely going to be traded by the end of the 2025 season. His no-trade clause expires after this upcoming season. You have Logan Gilbert being 2 seasons away from free agency and his value will peak.

Tyler Bremmer and Jamie Arnold are two very polished arms and will move quickly in the minors.

I do like about 5 or 6 of the top arms. I know we typically draft pitchers at the top I just wonder what Jerry will do at 3. I wish I could say and believe we can’t do wrong but we really can unfortunately

We'll see it works out but the M's have a pretty good record of 1st picks since Jerry and Hunter have taken over.

2016: Kyle Lewis: Career derailed by injuries. Was the ROY. Can we really blame the M's?
2017: Evan White: Career also derailed by injuries but maybe he just sucked. We can probably blame the M's.
2018: Logan Gilbert: Hit.
2019: George Kirby: Hit.
2020: Emerson Hancock: I would argue is the only true bust of the Jerry/Hunter era. He still made the majors and is trying to carve out a career.
2021: Harry Ford: TBD: Highly Regarded.
2022: Cole Young: TBD: Highly Regarded.
2023: Colt Emerson: TBD: Highly Regarded.
2024: Jurrangelo Cijntje: TBD: Interesting but I don't know if he has the ceiling of the arms they taken in the past.

We have have a good history and our staff is much better at developing arms. Going to be a fun draft this year thats for sure
