So no different than any other off-season led by DiBozo the![]()
I don't disagree, but this sounds pretty familiar. Welcome back TIMD.

Plan? We're the Mariners, what's a plan? I guess if you consider sign the cheapest possible option (someone who has no business even being on a AAA roster and is 10 years past their prime no matter how weak that prime looked) to be our savior a plan. Then that's our plan.I don't know if the Mariners tried to sign him or not, but it's possible that Torres simply didn't want to play here or would rather play in Detroit.
Same plan as always. Wait until all the good, or even decent, players are signed and then pick up a replacement level player to platoon with another replacement level player.
This ownership/front office are in love with platoons & has been'sI don't know if the Mariners tried to sign him or not, but it's possible that Torres simply didn't want to play here or would rather play in Detroit.

i agree that overpaying for a FA can be a costly mistake. But I think a one-year deal for Gleyber Torres at $15 million is both reasonable and affordable. I mean we paid Polanco $10.5 million last year. I hope Jerry tried to get Torres. I can also understand if a hitter doesn't want to play in Seattle, but we should at least be trying.I believe one of the big problems is, that free agent position players that can hit do not want to sign up to play at hitter un-friendly T-mobile park and play for a team that very rarely makes the play offs.
Jerry will have to overpay to get any body to sign here, and after the Josh Hamilton debacle in Anaheim he said he would never give a huge contract to a position player again.
In the mean time the fan base shrinks everyday.
I have always been one of the hopeful every off season but even the die hards are starting to fade.
Heres a big FU to the Mariner ownership!
A middle reliever being their big splash sounds about right.....Just read an article titled each MLB team’s most realistic free agent
They got us signing a Japanese reliever… I mean I guess we could use another reliever but can he play infield
Nooo…A middle reliever being their big splash sounds about right.....
I mean they can't get better via TRADES as dopey Jerry proves time & time again..... They would need to give up prospects to add talent, not only does he not want to do that, but there are only a couple of teams out there who will take prospects in deals. Unfortunately, the cheap azz Mariners are basically operating the same way Tampa basically does, except unfortunately for M's fans, we have smugish Jerry in charge. He has screwed this whole thing up with his awful trades over the years. Look at all the damaged relievers this guy keeps dealing away assets for. Everyone knows he is desperate at this point & will only give him pennies on the dollar, when he is probably trying to pull the same nonsense on other GM's. They just hang the phone up on that guy at this point. And NO they aren't signing Roki Sasaki either.Nooo…
Won't happen until FANS start demanding better. Anaheim is kind of going through the same thing. Though in Seattle and the PNW there are more M's fans than Angels fans. The M's have the numbers. It's just that 95% of M's fans are fine with a mediocre team. If fans start booing, being loud and aggressive, and demanding change things would change. It's the most laid back fan base in baseball, the most laid back franchise in North American sports. Ownership picks the most laid back coaching staff (the Servais regime for example). Laid back managers. Laid back everything. Nobody gives a sh**. I hate Philly and NY fans but at least they have balls. At what point does the city step in and say no more renovation money for the stadium unless you put a better product on the field? Make them spend $ or no city funds
