Russ won the job 3rd pre-season game against the Chiefs. Not sure of it was annoucned then, but Russ starter week 1.

I still remember that KC game and rooting for Russ and the way he made the preseason games exciting when he came in. I also remember it as the Eric-Berry-Upside-Down game.

The other one I remember is when their D bit hard on a naked bootleg and russ had ~50 yds of open field. He probably could have scored, but he ended up going down or out of bounds.

Amazing how things can change. Those were good times at the beginning of the best stretch in franchise history.
