This is a very good signing.

Definitely takes some pressure off the draft IMO.
And that is the key to this signing.

Having pre-draft options on the roster at C and LG allows Pete and John to go in any number of directions with this draft. I like it.

With our compensatory picks we have 5 picks in rounds 2-4... and I suspect we'll still draft two O-linemen out of those 5 picks... likely a G/C and a swing tackle.

Agreed. If you look at what Pete and John do in FA, most of the time it's shoring up depth or plugging a hole with a quality starter so we don't have to fight the draft board and can let it come to us. The most obvious move was us having T. Jackson on the roster and signing Matt Flynn. We didn't have to reach for Wilson in the 2nd and were able to procure Wagner as well. How many wins has that turned into for us ?

Pete and John don't like to go into the draft with obvious glaring holes that need to be filled. I think it's just as much strategy as anything else, and why we're the most unpredictable team in the draft.
