Braves Trade Proposal Sends Former No. 4 Prospect to Mediocre Blue Jays

Jake Elman
May 20, 2025

Any hopes of Jarred Kelenic growing into the Atlanta Braves’ next superstar outfielder essentially ended when his disappointing .531 OPS landed him at Triple-A Gwinnett before the calendar even hit May.

Kelenic’s second Braves season began disastrously, with him racking up only two RBI (both on solo home runs) and -0.6 bWAR in only 65 plate appearances. Although the Braves cited on-field performance for his demotion, the move came within days of failing to hustle in an April 19 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

Didn't he do pretty well his first year with the Braves? I remember thinking back then, great, another player who leaves Seattle starts playing lights out with another team. Guess he sputtered shortly after.

Yes, he had a decent first year with the Braves.

He was platooning if I recall.

Baseball is a very complicated sport....

He's only 26 so....who knows.

But he may have tapped his potential.

We shall see.....

Not really. His average dropped 20 points and his OBP dropped 40 points in his first year there.

I thought he was gonna be great. I was so worried after that fiasco with Kevin Mathers that jarred wouldn’t resign here. I guess that was premature, but I thought Ackley was gonna be great and Mike zunino and Jeff clement and who was that cf we had that was rookie of the year and then gone? Maybe I’m just a homer

I did too, he had such a sweet swing. We just haven't really developed any position players in a long time. Kyle Lewis was the CF.
I am definately a homer.

Adam Jones was the CF ROY if I recall.
