Anyone have any other sources to check the validity of this? Not that I would be surprised uf all the stuff we heard las year was two faced...

EDIT: Yep, looks like ESPN is reporting the same as well as many others.

Sorry but I don't buy it for a second. It goes against everything Pete preaches doesn't it?

Not sure that is really contradicting, but either way we'll see what happens.

Pretty obvious attempt to spin a story for views by ESPN there.

That's true, it does. So my sense is, if true, this is being driven by higher-ups.

We know that Pete insisted on having total control of the organization when he came on board, but this is an issue that is incredibly high profile.

He's a QB and the team needs a QB what's the harm in bringing him in to talk and see if he can be less of a distraction and more of a consumate pro? If there is little or no guaranteed money what's the harm in seeing if he can still play. If so it's a positive if he can avoid the media circus following him, otherwise he can just be cut and thanks for your time here.

If anyone for one second doesn't think that this has to do with the risk of losing a large chunk of your fanbase and subsequent revenue fallout is higher than a kite in a tornado.

Sounds like they wanted to know his plan for handling media distractions.

Doesn't matter that it's a politically related issue...a lack of plan speaks to lack of preparation which is the opposite of what you're looking for in a QB.

Well they are in the middle of the litigation and until he and the litigation is done it may be difficult to plan how things are going to be viewed or allowed. The whole collusion issue could blow up bigger if the league is found guilty and if Kaep happened to be here make things uncomfortable for all involved.

I mean it is sort of like asking who your next live in partner is while your still in a divorce proceedings.

It wouldn't matter if he agreed to stop kneeling at this point - some portion of any fanbase doesn't want him there for completely non-football reasons from 2 years ago.

And for some folks like me, it's not like I'm going to stick around and watch a league black ball Kaep and Reid for embarrassing fans who have very unnuanced ideas about everything.

He would be a distraction that we don't need... regardless of what he does during the anthem.

I vote "pass".
