You have to excuse Justin Turner he is used to being on the Dodgers where money is thrown around like it’s used toilet paper

Click bait on a motorcycle site, motociclismo.pt. Justin Turner did make some comments about the Mariners to USA Today, but his actual remarks were more tempered, as you might expect. He wanted badly to return to the Mariners, but couldn't reach a deal. His comments about how the Mariners should have signed Alonso really don't amount to a hill of beans as everyone knew that Alonso was out of the Mariners' price range. Turner actually had a lot of praise for Dan Wilson and Jerry Dipoto. He said that he noticed a real positive culture change wih Wilson coming in as manager at the end of last year.

The USA Today article by Bob Nightengale: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...pring-training-pitching-rotation/81422401007/

As frustrated as all of us were with the Mariners not adding a quality bat this off season, no one thought we had a chance wiith Juan Soto, Pete Alonso or Alex Bregman. Only 3 teams have the money to afford Soto at $765 million. Even suggesting that the Mariners should have signed one of them undermines the reporter's credibility a little. We just wanted them to sign Gleyber Torres.

This comment reeks of not seeing the forest for the trees.

This isn’t about one off season. This is about a franchise consistently lying to a fan base; telling them they will spend money and act aggressively when the time is right. Year after year it’s another to excuse to why that hasn’t happened yet.

I absolutely agree with you. Not excusing the Mariners one bit. I think they screwed up big time this off season as well as the last couple of decades. I'm just criticizing the stupid article in motocliclismo as well as the original writer of the USA Today article. But absolutely no excuse for not spending money, especially this off season.

It's just that the writer lost me when he suggested that the Mariners should have been in on Juan Soto. Everyone knew it was always going to come down to the Mets and the Yankees.

I don’t think his comment is missing the forest. The article never even told us what Turner said. If anything turner is mad they didn’t resign HIM! That doesn’t sound like someone who thinks this management is useless. I would like to see moves too, but I would also like to see the fruits of our farm system and not spend what little budget they seem to have on someone not good enough. Lord knows we’ve done enough of that. We were never in the running for Pete or Juan or anyone else who could pick their destination. I don’t care for Dipoto but his time is coming up if this mlb best farm system doesn’t start coming through soon
