Just curious what you all think as far as when JSN is going to demand a new contract? Yes, he’s only in his third year but when guys out play their contracts, their agents start chirping to demand more and a contract extension. I would think they would need to do that this coming off-season, no?

He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would demand anything from the team, I dunno. He knows he's getting paid by Seattle, so it'll happen when it happens. A total no brainer if I ever saw one.

My prediction... the Hawks will leverage his 5th year option and extend JSN before the start of the 2027 season... and the same goes for Devon Witherspoon... both 1st-rounders in 2023.

The next priority extension after this year will be Charles Cross, who will be playing on his 5th-year option cap of $17.56M in 2026.

Of note, K9, Boye Mafe, Josh Jobe, Coby Bryant and Riq Woolen will all be FAs after this year. Of those, I anticipate the team will try to keep K9, Josh Jobe and Coby Bryant at salaries they can afford... meaning Mafe and Woolen could certainly be entering free agency to determine their market value.

I would assume in the offseason, or late next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's after the 2026' season because we still have him under a rookie deal, and to build this team we need him cheap, if he keeps this pace up he's definitely getting paid top 5 money..

I was always against giving DK top ten WR money for he is not a top ten player.

JSN is a top 5 WR easily

Kinda crazy to think Spoon went so far ahead of JSN… if it wasn’t for Pete I bet we wouldn’t have either

I was all against paying Metcalf the big salary. Maybe I am picky but if you want to be a top ten highest paid player at a position you need to be a top ten player

We saved a fortune not resigning Metcalf

We have a huge roll over of cap money plus a lot of dead money going off the books. This offseason we will be in fantastic position to keep our own. I fully expect Smith Njigba, Spoon, and Cross signed to extensions. Even after all the we will still have money to get a free agent. Walker is a question mark IMO

Now if Smith Njigba wants to be one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league, I am all for it for he is one of the best wide receivers in the league

It will be cheaper to extend Njigba now then wait a year or two

A very good draft. Cross the previous year, Spoon and JSN and Murphy the following year and Zabel this year. Five for five, that is extremely difficult to have that kind of success. Our second round picks have also been pretty damn good. These trends will be hard to keep going in the future because we will now be drafting at the tail end of the draft

Smith Nigigba injury in his senior year was such a blessing. If not for that injury he would have not even come close to falling to us at number 20. Probably a blessing for Smith Njigba too, he didn’t get drafted by one of the crappiest teams in the league. If Smith Njigba entered the draft after his junior year he would have been top ten, maybe top five. He was an absolute beast in his junior year, never mind 14 receptions for 347 yards and 3 Touchdowns in the RoseBowl. Crazy stats. I remember watching that Rose Bowl thinking to myself, we will never suck bad enough to get this player. We are just so blessed to get him

That Rose Bowl game was 3 point game. I think it was 48 to 45. At the time the biggest Game JSN had been in and man oh man did he show up. Looked like a grown man playing against a bunch of little boys. 347 yards in a Bowl Game!!! Like Wow

He is definitely no flash in the pan

Sign him to set the market and let other (lesser) WRs try and get more. Don't dilly-dally and let other teams drive up the price with some mid-tier trash, lol.
