If we can get Jenkins to add to our Oline on top of the other moves we have made via trade an FA signing than I can't think anyone would have any room to complain about this offseason...though I am sure there are those that would. It just depends on what it takes to sign him although at this point in FA it seems like it wouldn't be a huge deal. It shores up our remaining biggest weakness and gives us that much more flexibility going into the draft. Even though I think our young Oline has a chance to greatly improve I think it would be a good move if it works cap wise.
I agree with you except people not finding something to complain about. This is .net after all.

Jenkins is a good player when healthy. Just don’t expect him to be available for 17 games. I understand why Poles didn’t extend him, but I had mixed feelings about it until we got Thuney.

Bears upgraded trenches so they have done very well so far.

Only thing I will add is I think we sign a Fullback as well. It may be the draft when we get one but I think it'll be another cheap FA add.
Interesting he took over for Jason Peters, who’s now with Hawks as line consultant

Mekhi Becton signed today with the Chargers, so it looks like Teven Jenkins is the last option for a significant upgrade at guard. Fingers crossed that he passes his physical.

Jenkins would be a nice add. If I were JS I would sign him along with Zack Martin. Zack is older but maybe 1-2 years left and he would be a good vet to help the younger guys.

Zack Martin retired in February after having ankle surgery in December. Sad to say he is done

Signing Jenkins would at least point this team in the right direction as far as improving the O-Line goes.

And from there, the focus will be on drafting more of them.

I would only sign Jenkins cheap and say you have to come in and compete
I have been thinking just with the change of offensive scheme is going to be a huge difference than the hiring of Benton, Dennison and Outten is just more icing on the cake, then coaches have said they are somewhat satisfied with the present players on the O line.

Just because you bring in someone different doesn’t mean better, I do have confidence in the offensive coaches to make a decision on whether or not to bring in Jenkins

The offensive line will look very different in 2025 vs 2024

My feelings are you bring in a vet like Jenkins just like you added WR and EDGE to hedge your bets in the draft. If they aren't worrying about a gaping hole in one of the position groups then they can just let the draft fall to them and avoid a major reach or miss out on the better player. But he's not a player that is going to be a major disappointment if it doesn't happen, just a nice addition to hedge in the draft if it does.

Personally, I don't think our OL going forward is the dumpster fire many were describing last season. Lot of young guys with room for improvement with the coaching changes and better schemes to help them out. I'm not against adding talent, that's always a good idea and I expect at least two OL in this draft, but again I don't believe we are in that bad of shape overall.

A couple of internet blurbs I've read recently- *Jenkin's is the 18th ranked guard* & *He's a glass eater.*
With his injury history I hope John doesn't overpay pay. This would be a nice potential diamond but not a must sign. I think a smash #18 OL pick would really be the kingpin in a steep upwards trajectory. If that was coupled with a healthy Jenkins I don't think even a couple injuries would slow us down.

Yeah. I keep hearing that. If we went into the season with the same guys as last year I wouldn't expect the outcome to be hugely different. The scheme change should help, the players should continue to get better but this idea is greatly exaggerated imo.

Possibly, but I keep hearing that OL improve the most between year 2 to 3, so I'm looking forward to this year. I'm still OK with any upgrades they want to bring in, but they don't seem to be in a hurry to do so. Looks like they are primarily looking to the draft.
