Hmmm. I consider Alabama and Wisconsin "other team"s, but okay, I get what you 're saying. Cable hasn't yet proven to be the infallible guru his reputation would suggest, imo.

Infallible guru? Exaggerate much? He's known for making a run game work; not much more than that.

As far as the first round picks have faired, I doubt the Seahawks were looking for a draft guru when they hired him. He has input I'm sure, but top OL prospects haven't exactly fell to us. I doubt any of the OL coaches under the Holmgren regime could do nearly as well with the assortment of spare parts he's dealing with.

BFS is right, lots of Seahawk fans think our O-line is plug and play just because Cable coaches them up. And Coach Cable gets what he wants. Draft picks, offensive calls...Cable gets his way. That run game you say he makes work? It's kind of still stuck in idle, IMO.

Run blocking was only a problem for the OL in Carolina, and that was because they were trying out a bunch of pulls/trap stuff that we don't really have the personnel for yet (namely, Carp sucked at pulling). Since then, Seattle has run blocked pretty well but has been undone by a very poor lead blocker in Coleman. When Coleman's been off the field, Seattle has run the ball well.

But, if I am going to blame anyone on our OL, I'd say that Unger's dropoff in performance has been a difference maker. He looked terrific in the preseason so I'm wondering if it is just a recent injury he's been concealing. Sweezy and Giacomini have looked pretty good. McQuistan has been reasonably decent when not facing Aldon Smith. Okung was playing at his usual level until he got hurt. Carp has improved after a very rough start in Carolina.

We also face three of the NFL's very best front sevens in the first four weeks, with the other remaining team being coached by a guy who knows our team inside and out. Quality of opponent is just as important as the quality of the Seahawks. And yet most people completely breeze over it.

I think Lynch is a big reason we don't see more repercussions from the OL struggles. Put a back in there who can't drag the pile and we look a lot worse. Lynch manages to nearly always get back to the LOS and stop our drives from dying on the vine.

Cable is feeling a little overrated to me.

Precisely.
