I'm a shameless homer, and a big fan of local guys doing good. He caught everything thrown his way last season after he was moved up from the practice squad. Let's be honest though, we are a little top heavy on receiver now. Does he make the team this year? I hope so.

I can think of two balls he dropped after being activated.

If we carry 6 and he works his arse off to be the top STer then yeah, there's hope. Those 5th and 6th spots generally have ST as part of the equation. Harper will be 5th right away and will be a good STer. Kearse has to beat out the others.

Obo lasted a long time.

There is hope for Kearse.

He needs to become a standout on Special Teams, and he needs to catch the ball whenever his number is called.

I see his ceiling as Doug Baldwin, his problem is well... We have Doug Baldwin

There's always hope.

But if I had to bet, I'd bet against him, at least what we saw last year. It really depends on how much he develops, and like has been said above, how well he does on ST.

Here is the group he's fighting for the 6th spot. I'm not sure I'd consider a single one of these guys with having a leg up on the others, so he certainly has a shot. With the exception of Williams' height, it's interesting how close in size this group is. I really like Kearse, he gets open which is the first skill a WR has to have, but the shaky hands have been a thing for years, and I'm not sure he's ever going to get past it.

2 Austin, Matt WR 6-2 202 24 R Utah State
13 Bates, Phil WR 6-1 220 23 2 Ohio
15 Kearse, Jermaine WR 6-1 209 23 2 Washington
14 Martin, Charly WR 6-1 212 29 5 West Texas A&M
16 Swain, Brett WR 6-0 200 27 4 San Diego State
19 Walters, Bryan WR 6-0 190 25 4 Cornell
83 Williams, Stephen WR 6-5 208 26 3 Toledo

Lol, you really are a homer. Chop Chop went and drop dropped half the balls I saw thrown at him. I highly doubt he makes the 53.

From that list above, I'd bet that Charly Martin is the one that makes it. Just basing it from last years performance.

Harper is a near lock for the roster and JS sounded geeked when he signed Stephen Williams, who is the only player on the team that I'd consider "true" depth for Sidney Rice. That's six WRs right there. Kearse would have to light the world on fire in the preseason to make it on the 53 man.

Kearse might still have PS eligibility left. I think that's his best hope, barring injury. If he plays very well, Seattle might give him a real chance for the roster in 2014 if Baldwin and/or Tate depart next offseason.

Harvin, Rice, Tate, Baldwin, Harper are pretty much locks. I suppose they carry six receivers so one position is up for grabs. Kearse is a long shot but he has a chance same as any other of the rest. A "surprise" trade from this position seems possible as well.

To be honest, after watching him in college I was surprised he was ever even given an opportunity. Imo, he looks the part, but he's never played the part consistently enough.

I don't think he makes the final 53. Practice squad at best, but very doubtful for me. I think he gets cut relatively early actually.
