Is the league actually considering this?

Moving the kickoff touchback to the 35 yard line? 🙄

Are they desperate to get scoring up? My word. Why stop there? Just put it straight into FG range. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I actually preferred it back when they had it at the 20.

The records being set in TD, receptions and yards are purposely being skewed, to hide the inferior product. Games are so bad, that people have to have multiple games going at all times to hold their interest. I don't know if this is because people are programmed to have no attention span, or the games are not interesting. Pinball was fun BITD, now video games push endorphins by the microsecond. So is the modern NFL.

Bet the overs this season.

In might not necessarily manifest itself to be true in any single game sample size, but over the course of a full season it should play out.

You guys, it's not about giving teams less yards to go to score 🤦‍♂️ The point is to discourage touchbacks in turn encouraging more returns on kickoffs...

The new kickoffs are a good compromise in my opinion if we can't have it old school because of concussions. I'd rather have this than just eliminating kickoffs all together like has been discussed. They're trying to figure out a way to make kickoffs relevant but safe enough that they don't have to eliminate it all together. It's going to take some tweaking and trial and error, but this seems to be on the right track right now.

This.

They're just seeing how often teams were still willing to get a touch back this preseason and trying to determine what the 'default' starting position needs to be so that teams will be more likely to kick a returnable ball.

It would be weird if they weren't looking into this.

The only thing I'd caution is that I don't think they should be overly reliant on how teams treated kickoff in the preseason because I'm not sure teams have actually been fully implementing their gameplan yet. Let's let this season play out and then make any adjustments next year.
