Hamstring injuries are usually tricky to recover from and are very hard to quickly recover completely from. We all need to be patient as Love will be at his best value later in the season. Meanwhile Emmanwori is starting to play better and better.

Sorry I was just responding to Mike’s presser.

Again having a setback while you’re on a bye week when already weeks into a niggling hamstring injury just screams amateur hour from our conditioning staff. I’m venting out of frustration but come on guys, seriously. Young being another one with lingering injury issues is a frustration at this point; at least they should all make it back at some point.
That Rams game is looming large though…

I used to run track in college. I have suffered a serious hamstring injury, and been around many high levels athletes that have also dealt with hamstring injuries. They are extremely tricky to deal with and generally don't fully heal without months worth of rest and PT. Even at +90% "healed" one wrong move can re-aggravate it, and sometimes even do more damage than the original injury. Even with a minor pull/strain you can develop scar tissue that makes reinjury highly likely even with a full recovery.

For professional athlete and the coaching staff there is a risk/reward ratio that needs to be taken into account. I guess what I am saying is, this is not necessarily a failure on anyone's part, just an unfortunate reality of dealing with these types of soft tissue injuries at this level of play.

I'm certainly not a pro athlete, but I've had the hammy thing. It's a weird injury. You could rest it, rehab it, think it's better, and then get active and tweak the darn thing again. For me, it wasn't so much that it was painful as it was that I just couldn't use the leg like I wanted to from an absence of power in it.
yup. tricky. issue is there are several long muscles in three groups that comprise the hamstring and they arent all created equal. isolating the muscle that is strained or has a slight tear so that you can rehab it is key. Often, strengthening the hamstring in its totality doesnt do enough for the one muscle band within the one group that might still be weak, which is why you can think you are ok because the leg is strong, there is no pain but then go out on the field and the one band that is weak out of the several that are strong (and likely compensating for the weak band) is strained again.

How true ..........

As a starting point for those interested in understanding hamstring injuries and the role of trainers and physical therapists, the following short presentation might help as an orientation beginning .....................

............. The above 9 minute presentation was appropriately concise. However, there are plenty of other presentations out there as well. Also, "Kinesiology" is a term worth checking out.

When I tore mine, the only sign that it wasn't recovered was a twitch, that I couldn't feel, in my hamstring, when doing deadlifts. My coach made me wear shorts so she could see it.

It was probably four months before it stopped doing that, and six months before I got back to the weight I was lifting when it tore.

Thursday Report

Did not participate
S Julian Love (hamstring)
TE Eric Saubert (calf)
WR Dareke Young (quadricep)

Limited participation
WR Jake Bobo (Achilles)
LB Derick Hall (oblique)
WR Cooper Kupp (heel/hamstring)
DT Jarran Reed (wrist)

Full participation
QB Sam Darnold (chest)
G Christian Haynes (pectoral)
LB DeMarcus Lawrence (not injury related/resting player)
FB Robbie Ouzts (ankle)
DE Leonard Williams (not injury related/resting player)
CB Devon Witherspoon (knee)

Good to see Witherspoon out there full go again but Kupp is a little disconcerting especially with the addition of Bobo. Could be a bit depleted there if these guys can’t pull through.

Are you sure she wasn't seeing other things?
I mean having you wear tight shorts and all...

JS should consider going after another WR, imo.

The unavailability of Dareke Young will primarily affect special teams more so than the offensive team. Someone will have to step up to fill in his important roles on special teams.

Thank you. That helped me.

You'll still pull your hamstring Fan80
Physical Therapist said I need to stretch them out as they looked very tight and she said I looked bow legged when walking. She said some other things about my posture that I need to work on too. But she gave me some working rubber bands to stretch out for strength. OH...THAT IS WHAT YOU MEAN. Nevermind.
