Why are they trying to convert 4th and goal with the worst offensive line in the league lol
Fourth and one not fourth snd goal. Still a different MV call with this offensive line

This is the trend in football at all levels

Go for it in situations that nobody dreamed of even 10 years sgo

It’s gone too far. Coaches leave points (and give opposing team the ball in plus territory) far too often

Change isn’t always good

In Macdonald's case I think it's a combo of both the analytics mindset and also not wanting to develop a rep for being 'timid' as a first year head coach.

But as I've opined before, you need to assess your own team here. We suck at short yardage, run-obvious situations. We've got a team that has struggled to recover from blowing these opportunities.

Like, to me, this should have been something Macdonald should have internalized two games ago at most. And yet...?

Agree
I think analytics should be balanced with common sense
Instead coaches use it as a shield to make choices with their heart instead of their brain

It was a stupid call. Rams took a timeout so THEY KNEW exact what was coming. But yet they try it anyway instead of doing something else
