I used to think Brunell was a pretty smart guy

The context of what Brunell's saying holds some truth, i.e. bruising run 1st offense/rely on defense type teams don't normally do well at playing from behind.

But that's just not true with this team. Russell has proven that he can lead this team from behind............and like last year in Atlanta and this year against the Bucs, from WAY behind even.

Unless he followed it up with "but they keep doing it anyway" then Brunell has been eating dumb-ass sandwiches dipped in stupid sauce.

The thing about the Chargers game plan in all 3 of their meetings was they deliberately tried to milk as much clock as possible to keep the Denver offense off the field because their defense simply had no answer what so ever for the Broncos offense. Even in the playoffs, the Broncos had a 3rd and 18 conversion when the Chargers defense somehow left Julius Thomas uncovered 20 yards down field.

I don't think we have to approach it the same way on offense. We can afford to be a bit more aggressive than the Chargers were because our defense WILL get stops unlike San Diego's or New England's

I was hoping someone would comment on the San Diego success against Denver :D I had to look up a lot of stats to make sure what I was posting was accurate and I think it paints a very simple picture:

1. Run the Ball
2. Stop the Run
3. Sack Peyton Manning.
4. Win the turnover battle

In the loss vs the Colts, Peyton was sacked 4 times. Colts rushed 31 times for 121 yards. Luck was 21/38 for 228 yards and 3 TDs in that game.

Manning was 29/49 for 386 Yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. They only rushed for 64 yards but the TOP was fairly even.

Trindon Holliday lost a fumble (Hello Lockette!) and some guy named Ihenacho lost 1 for a total of 3 turnovers plus a Safety.

Interesting take by Brunell...........not sure how right he is. But the offense will need to have the running game working well to help keep Peyton off the field.

Yea those comments were pretty retarded, I am not a big fan of Brunell but it isn't because of that comment. Brock Huard should replace him.

On the flip side I have been really impressed with Ryan Clark, he is extremely intelligent and you can tell he pays attention to every team.

Absolutely! Clark definitely has a career as an expert on all things football. I like Ross Tucker and Shaun King who I saw on NBC's Pro Football Talk. They are very good.

Yeah Clark will be on TV when he retires. Really good on camera and smart as hell. (hard to say those things about a Stealer, but it's true LOL)

It's funny how these current/recent NFL players are always much better analysts than these "experts" who only wished they were athletic enough to play football at some point in their life.

I'd be curious to see the teams that came back from bigger/more deficits this year than the Seahawks.

The only team that comes to mind is Indy.

I believe RW is second to Luck in comeback victories the last two years.

Seattle's D and run game is so good people think RW never does anything and that narrative is getting old.

When Seattle goes down RW puts on the superman cape and is unbelievable.

I couldn't have said it better myself. When I heard Mark say that, I almost spit the coke I was drinking through my nose, I was laughing so hard.

My god, what a stupid thing to say after all the games we've come from behind to win it all year.

I wonder when the networks do their annual performance reviews with these bozos if they mention things like this.

Network: "Eh Mark, you really should actually watch some of these games before you comment on teams."

LOL

He's absolutely right. Except, of course, for:

- The 4th quarter comeback win against Carolina
- The 20-3 deficit comeback in the second half against Houston
- The win against Tennessee after being down at halftime
- The win against Tampa Bay after being down 21-0 before, and 24-7 after halftime
- The win in the NFC Championship game against SF after being down 10-0, and then 17-13 in the 4th quarter

So yea, we've only come back in the 4th quarter and/or back from trailing double digits 26% of the time this year. Tsk, tsk. Such a weak team.

I think we have struggled with passing the last few games because we have played a some excellent defenses and Russ hasn't had a lot of time to find an open receiver.

This season while playing against defenses rated close to Denver's (ie: below average) our passing game has been fine. Add Harvin, and our passing game promises to compliment the run just the way we need it to. Pretty certain they take the breaks off Russ against the Broncos too - watch him run.
