From the bottom of my heart, I hope the rest of you aren’t being bored to tears by this Titans FO bod in the commentary booth. Dear God I’m losing the will to live…

Is Howell playing like the steaming pile of pooh that everyone says he is today???
He was bad the first two series but turned it around pretty quickly. (I thought we saw some smart playcalling from Grubb that helped in that cause.)

That was... painful. Why can't I pick the Seattle broadcast? Why am I stuck with this Titans Network stuff, NFL+?

I tried to listen to the Seahawks radio broadcast and mute the TV, but the time gap was too much.

He's showing off his arm and is a bit more decisive now. He had a good half. He is, however, still having issues when under pressure. He panics.

Largely a positive showing, but his problems are still his problems. Seems like the same guy he was in Washington DC, which is quite positive for a backup.

Standard, huh? Sorry to have offended, I guess.

And yes, he generally panics under duress, which is how he ran himself into almost 70 sacks in a single year last season and also threw 21 picks (most in the NFL.) With that being said, he is adept at pushing the ball vertically and is a functional quarterback when compared to most backups, like Mason Rudolph.

He is not a methodical player, he's an instinctual improviser. This leads to boom-or-bust results with Howell. He's more like Russell Wilson in this way, but far more willing to pull the trigger on risky attempts than Russ was, which is a double-edged sword.

I think he's one of the best backups in football, but he has legitimate issues with his processing when he's under real pressure. He's looking really nice so far when given a clean pocket, though.

For a guy like Sam Howell who was traded away for relatively little, this is more praise than it is criticism. I think he's a fringe starter as it stands, and with a few improvements, he could be a really legit QB.
