Positively blissful and optimistic that we will beat the Saints next week. That's not to take away from the fact that the Saints just beat the Eagles in their house, their first postseason away game victory in franchise history. They are confident with reason to be. They already have one playoff victory under their belts this year. That does count for something. Like Brees said after the game tonight, they know how tough it is to play in Seattle and they have to play their best game to have a chance and he's right.

He also said that they played us not long ago in Seattle so they have reference to draw from and prepare for, adjustments will be made.

He's right again.

Any time you have Drew Brees as your quarterback you have a legitimate chance to win. Nobody - myself included - can deny that fact. We all saw that we are not invincible at home, losing to the Cardinals just two weeks ago.

The thing is, the 2013 Seattle Seahawks are on another level, especially at home, Cardinals game aside. You can't tell me the #1 defense in the league is not going to have a feeding frenzy next Saturday, making Brees' life miserable...Again. You can't tell me we won't shut out their stud TE Jimmy Graham...Again. And you certainly can't tell me that their slightly above average defense is going to shut Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch and Golden Tate and Kearse and Baldwin out.

Oh, and let's not forget that it's highly likely that Harvin plays this Saturday.

And the 12th Man. Forget about it.

So look, I respect the Saints and certainly think it's possible we could lose to them...I just highly doubt it. This season feels like destiny to me. Far more than any other since 1976. Both teams will battle, and I DO expect the game to be much closer than the last time we played them...

In the end, we will prove to be what we already know is the case...The better team wins, and that team doesn't wear Gold.

In years past I would have worried about this game, just the nature of a Seahawk fan, it has been instilled in us. Not a worry one this time. This team is the best there is, period. I've been watching this team for a few years now, since 1976, and never have we had anything like this.

The Saints should be given credit, they made it this far. This Seahawk team is so far above them talent wise, just as this team is so far ahead of anything we have ever fielded. It really is that simple, not a dig on the opposing team at all.

I am just going to enjoy it as it happens, no worries, no thinking about this angle or that, no comparing weaknesses or strengths, just enjoy the journey.

This is ours.

This is what us battered and bruised long-time fan types have had such a hard time grasping onto. Being oh-so-prepared for the worst is a tough habit to break, but maybe Kam can knock some sense into us...

I totally get that anything can happen. My Broncos/49ers Fan Neighbor (Hi Kevin...He reads .NET now...) loves to push my buttons, rarely giving the Seahawks credit even though we ended the year ranked #1 in the power polls and #1 in total defense. All he could say to that was "I can think of two other NFC teams with better front 7's than yours". Right or wrong, pushing buttons...However, I digress...His main point is that we should understand that any of the teams we face can beat us at home. OF COURSE THEY CAN! I'm not so slow-minded to think it's not possible. Look no further than two weeks ago.

My point is that we should have every reason to believe we can and WILL win next Saturday! Embrace the spirit and change that PC and JS have worked towards in the past four years. Sure we are not invincible, but man oh man, I can't remember a team in recent memory that is poised for a championship as this team is.

It's OKAY for fans to feel however the Hell they want to feel about next Saturday and beyond. I simply choose to believe this is our year.

If I'm wrong? I'm wrong!

Both you and AROS are correct I've seen this in person when I was in my twenties andstill not really into football...San Francisco/Cincinnati. I had moved to the Northwest 4-5 years earlier from San Francisco but still only knew about the 49ers and the transformation is/was indescribable to an original Seahawk fan.Trust me it's an incredible ride, especially if you're a fan and shocking if you're not.

Seems like every game most folks expected the Seahawks to steamroll ended up being an L or a close game (@STL, vs. TB, vs. TEN, vs. ARI) and then those games where fans start to get worried about the team they come up big (@ATL, vs. NO, vs. STL). People can say what they want in retrospect, but plenty of folks were nervous wrecks going into Atlanta and into the season finale.

Needless to say, an overconfident board is a bit concerning!

I try not to overreact to the past week or two. The Saints were still #4 in overall DVOA for the year, and they have a championship pedigree. Brees and Payton are among the best in the biz at what they do. KJ was the MVP of the previous game, and he'll be unavailable. Wonky crap happens in the playoffs. Expecting this to be easy is a mistake, I think.

Two points to add

1) if Seattle plays with the playbook from the first meeting, we will win again. However, if they go back to the regressive vanilla playcalling of the last four weeks, we are going to be in a dogfight. You cannot ask a defense to hold a future HOF QB multiple times while the O is three and outing on run, run, long bomb (insert random procedural penalty somewhere).

2) On paper Seattle is the better team. Any given Sunday can even things out...sometimes. However, if the 12th man comes out fired up (not a given when people expect a blowout-reference Cardinals game), the any given Sunday formula goes out the window as our home field/noise advantage is capable of tilting the field enough to take that away from the other team. If the 12s do their job, this will be a win.
