He needs a few more skins on the wall when it comes to end-of-game situations and 50+ yarders before he can be safely anointed the best K in the league, but he's certainly been performing at a Pro Bowl level through 10 games this season, in all facets.BleedGreenNblue":8obvy1xz said:MUCH LOVE! best kicker in the league

The primary consideration for coaches with potential long FG attempts isn't simply or necessarily the likelihood of the kicker being able to clear the distance needed, its the risk of having the kick blocked due to the lower trajectory, coupled with the game situation. A missed attempt or block for that distance is guaranteed to give the opponent the ball around midfield, if not in your own territory. Coaches are much less likely to risk that in a close game and/or in the first half than they are when they're, say, up by 17 late in the 3rd quarter. It's all about situational football, not perceived leg strength.EverydayImRusselin":arxwukcx said:I've been wondering why Pete hasn't turned him loose from 50+ this season. In the preseason he showed his range on that 62 yarder off the crossbar. His kick yesterday was good from 60 I'd say, he hit the net on that.

My FIL and I were talking about this during the game how man kickers are not hitting 50+ yarders frequently. We agree that in a few years 55+ will soon be the norm, and that the NFL may change the rule to allow only three FG per game for each team.
