His Classmates Were Ticketed for Wall Street, but He Became a Brilliant NFL Coach

(FYI, you can register with SI, I used my Gmail account, and get the article for free.)

Seattle’s Mike Macdonald never needed to announce the depth of his intellect; instead, he wore it subtly, which made him and it more effective.

Hour 2: SI’s Greg Bishop on Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdoanld’s journey to the NFL

Bob and Dave are joined by Sports Illustrated Senior Writer Greg Bishop
to get his thoughts on what he learned about Mike Macdoanld while writing his in-depth article on his journey to the NFL,

They look at what kind of game plan we should be expecting from the Seahawks in their Divisional Round Rematch against the 49ers, and they discuss how important Grey Zabel has been to the offensive line this season.

Greg Bishop at SI said his athletic career ended in high school is mistaken for another Greg Bishop that played Offensive Line for the New York Giants. :p

Yeah, I think MM is the only HC in the NFL who didn't play college ball. That's not a small thing to overcome and get to where he is now, I would think. You've really got to prove to players that you can make them and the team successful without relying on any direct experience playing the game at even the collegiate level which they all have. The cred thing. It makes me think that he has to be an exceptional communicator in his own way, along with his obvious innovative smarts.
