Sounds promising, although Pete has been known to be a bit rosy in his predictions.

This would stink. Pure hot air, or is he on to something?

Hmmm, I wouldn't think that taking the rest of the year off would help his bargaining power come FA.

But maybe that's just me.

I'm going with "hot air" as in WAG, not even SWAG.

He's on to something. It sucks for us obviously given the schedule.

Clowney himself could decide he's kind of a Kittle. Come in on broken bones (or whatever he has) and ball out. But his value is high whether he says with the Hawks, and if he says he's IR ready, they really almost have to go with that.

Depends how much Lynch or Procise he has in him, both had the Sports Hernia designation associated with injuries, Procise tried and couldn't do it and it plagued him for two seasons, Lynch player thru it and produced and had it fixed after the season if I remember correctly.

Sounds like speculation on Tucker’s part.
If Clowney is out for the year that would be a HUGE blow.

A sports hernia to your hip? Isn't that usually in your lower abdomen? I haven't heard of that effecting your hip before. How serious is this? Or we don't know yet and it's still pending?

I remember people were talking about him skipping his junior year and not risk his draft status. He wanted to play though. He looked like he was playing with that in mind at times.

It would be the smart business decision to get it fixed now and get healthy for his contract of a lifetime. If he plays out the season I think it shows he wants to be here. Either way hopefully we sign him after the season.

Sports hernias affect all those core muscles and tendons. So yes, with a bad sports hernia it could be affecting Clowney's hip.

Also as with most "trying to play through the pain" injuries, you also overcompensate and overuse the muscles around the area you're favoring.

A hernia involves organs bulging against a wall. It'd be impossible to have one in the hip--the nearest place would be the inguinal canal.

I could certainly understand overcompensating and overusing muscles around the area you are favoring. Because I've done that myself with different sports injuries over the years. You start with 1 injury and end up with like 3. It's really disappointing. But I could see how that can happen.

That's interesting. That sounds right.

Not that it matters but I think I may have the same issue..
I'll have to get it confirmed..It calms down but aggravates
easily- causes muscle spasms around the hip..
I can deal with it but playing a game is totally different.

There’s no way Clowney sits out the rest of the year lol. It’s not like he’s playing on a bad knee or foot.

A sports hernia is a painful, soft tissue injury that occurs in the groin area. It most often occurs during sports that require sudden changes of direction or intense twisting movements. Although a sports hernia may lead to a traditional, abdominal hernia, it is a different injury.
