I could probably argue this both ways depending on what side of the bed I got up on. I guess I like how JS has gotten back to smart/sustainable roster construction by (1) preserving draft capital and (2) not giving out big contracts to older vets. However, as compared to Jamal Adams, at least it would be for a premium position worth trading for...

Man, Dunlap was one hell of a trade for this team. Dude contributed immediately. I remember that day well. Was driving down to the ocean and my phone starts blowing up. "Dude, we got Dunlap!"

Not the same as the Jamal trade at all. He isn't pushing his way off the team. He plays an actual critically important position that deserves big money for big production and you don't have to wonder how exactly your going to use him.
I would have zero problem parting with a second and giving him a good contract.

He's one of the best D Lineman in the NFL.
31 to be 32, he is at drop off point, rotational player ok but not at top salary like an every down player. Players can get 2 or 3 more years looking at it in that role for a lesser salary, he is also more susceptible to injuries going forward.

This is pipe dream stuff.

Who wouldn't want the #1 pass rusher in the NFL as far as sacks are concerned (over the past two seasons)? All in all I just can't see the team paying him what he'd want or satisfying the first round pick requirement that Cinncie would want for the player.

Not sure what our cap really looks like. There’s others on the board absolutely dialled in.
If we could keep it to a 2nd rounder to acquire him I wonder if we have the room to front load the deal a bit giving us a break down the road?

Been dreaming about him since the offseason drama began
