Happy game day!

Yeah, I know it’s just the first preseason game, but I don’t care. It’s game day! We get to watch our Seahawks play an actual football game after months of waiting. Many of the guys that will see action, will be winding down their football careers and will be putting on the pads for one of the last times in their lives. Some other guys will embrace the situation and embark on an NFL journey. Players that we are all counting on may or may not get playing time tonight.
But I don’t care. It’s all good. It’s football, in uniforms, in pads against another team. I’ll be watching and doing my own evaluations and looking for insights into what could transpire for the regular season.

It's always hard for me to believe it when the season starts again. It all kind of creeps up on you. And then, one second you're watching the first preseason game, and the next, it's December and you're pulling for the team to play as long as possible.

The season goes by so fast that I'm content in the later moments of the offseason before things get rolling. Because once it starts, it's almost over.

I tire of preseason pretty fast, but still watch the games because, well, I'm a bit of a football addict. I spend too much time watching it, researching it, reading about it, posting about it...it's really a bit disturbing. I feel like I know more about many players than I do extended family members. It is kind of like a drug to me. Why do I care and make emotional investments in it the way I do? There's no shortage of better things I could be doing with my time. But that doesn't stop me. I keep coming back for my fix.

I'm in the same boat. Graduated from my 40s this year and remember pulling on my seahawks sweatshirt in 3rd grade at Tillicum Elementary like it was yesterday. And it wasn't... remotely ... close ... to yesterday, or yester-year, or yester-decade.
