Should be interesting to if Guy tries to take a few kill shots on the Seahawks WRs when the Jaguars come to town. If he sticks (and gets playing time with regular defense).

He would whiff the on tackle.

That is a good coaching staff in Jacksonville. They will coach to correct a lot of Guy's flaws and they can help him become a star he clearly wants to be ...... if he listens. Good coaching is a terrible thing to waste.

I believe that Jaye Howard being claimed by KC means that Gus/Jax didn't get a shot, as KC is first in line.

I think it is silly that waiver order is fixed. You should go to the end of the line for the next claim after you make a claim. the Hawks have to give up a pick to get D Smith because they doubt he makes it to the end of the waiver order, but the Jags can just sit at 2 and let Guy,Blackmon,Knox and a buttload of TEs fall to them. Punishing the succesfull.
This is the price you pay for having success, the NFL is set up to give every team a reasonable chance if they make good decisions. You don't get to keep 95-100 players thereby stacking your bench with starters like college.

In Kansas City and Jacksonville those guys play and maybe even start. Here? They get buried. It's a numbers and needs game and they got caught in it.

I am glad I get to see if Howard is as good as I think he is live though, anyone that puts Peyton on his back is a priority for them.

Sad to see Guy go but that was a given considering what Jacksonville has to compete against (Houston and Indianapolis) especially Indianapolis and Luck. They will be in contention as long as Luck is there.

Ron Parker tweeted that he was picked up by the KC Chiefs. Hope he sticks with them. I see they let Kennard Cox go in the cut-down to 53.

Ron Parker can fly. In addition to cornerback, he saw some practice time at free safety during his time in Seattle.

The current hyper-competitiveness in college football has been helped over the years by scholarship limits being reduced to the current 85; the big-time; no longer could big-money programs lock up 150 talented athletes and have a 3rd string better that their conference rivals' 1st string. (It was "unlimited", then in the 70's reduced to 105 scholarships, and currently is at 85 since about 1992)

The NFL has a pretty good system for overall competitive parity. Good luck to Howard at KC and Guy at Jacksonville. Let's hope they are starters and do well, show well, because the Seahawks believe the players they kept are better than them.

If KC and JAX are taking our cuts, safe to assume a many other NFL teams were putting claims on our guys.

Not only will he go for the kill shot, he will probably go for the cheap shot. If he was doing in practice damn straight he will try to do it week three. I Hope Giacomini stomps a mud hole in his a$$ if he injures someone. Look out for your knees Rice!

I still baffles me that so many people are down on Guy simply because of RRR and his inablilty to get on the field in front of two Pro bowlers at safety.

I was down on him for the way he played last year. Nothing more.

I think Guy has what it takes to be a punisher on the back end. Sometimes he just came in a little wild, instead of making the sure tackle (Packers game when he closed his eyes and got lucky). Last year in the playoffs against the Falcons he had perfect coverage against T. Gonzales, tried to pull the ball out of his hands, and Gonzales still caught it. If he can cover TE's consitantly like that he can be very good, because if that was a normal TE that would have been a imcompletion. That was just one play remeber about Guy

I think Gus is intent on breaking Schneider's transaction number record from 2010.

So that's it, if a rookie doesn't perform well in limited opportunities in 3 games you might as well cut him?
I'm guessing you were down on Kearse this preseason too?

With Winston Guy, Jacksonville has a ready made stage for a guy that screems for a stage. He will have a better opportunity to get the snaps he needs to develop and showboat all he wants. At the very least he will be entertaining while having the opportunity to learn from his mistakes. This could work out very well for Guy .... its in his court.

This makes a lot of sense. Maybe he just didn't have the personality to acclimate and bond with his team mates here? more of a lone ranger type?

Sure loved the dudes fizzicality.

"Fizzicality." That's awesome!! I agree on losing Guy.

Instead of trading a conditional pick to Jax for the DT we should have just traded Guy. Seems like we got snookered there.

They are number two in the waiver claim process. It was almost a guarantee they would get him. They gt the player and a pick with how they played it.

At the same time, it's a conditional 7th that they probably won't even end up receiving.

Probably contingent upon him making the pro-bowl. Pete and Gus yukking it up like the Harbaugh boys.

With our roster as we seen this year sticking on it will be much more difficult for a rookie unless there is a wow factor, wow for lineman just dominanting, wow for skill positions a lot like Micheal. We will have our sad days to be sure as fans as favorites move on, fringe guys with upside that don't show a big step in improvement we will have less time to nurture as there is a higher level of players willing to push the window waiting for a in so to speak.

Guy had great tools, but even when we drafted him he had the label of a big hitter and not a real smart player, played his position like a linebacker and basically shot gaps to make a hard hit rather then reading. That aggression I think we liked and wanted to help him with the mental aspect and grow, he did improve but not enough for this franchise at this given time of what they want to do.

Guy always lacked the mental part of the game , IMO
and you are basing this off of what exactly?

The dislike/hate for Guy makes no sense to me, its like the moment he hit Williams during that scrimmage every Seahawk fan started hating everything about him. I don't recall anybody on this board every talking about him during the offseason positively or negatively until that hit. Which is hilarious to me because if it was any of our starting db's, we'd all be bragging about how hard the LOB hits. He was a rookie who really didn't really play last year just like Jaye Howard and Korey Toomer. The hate I've seen towards Guy makes no damn sense to me
