Bad: We beat ourselves with dumb penalties, a poor punt and a fumble. Can't make mistakes like that when playing a team like New Orleans.

Good: We are better than we played today, IF we clean it up.

Bad: We made it look a bit more respectable at the end, but it was too little, too late after all the miscues.

Good: The team never stopped fighting.

Bad: Run game doesn't look great.

Good: Russ looks terrific.

Bad: O-line isn’t what we expected.

Good: Metcalf is going to be really good.

Bad: This loss really, really sucks.

Good: Lots of games left to play.

Not a fun day. Need the young guys on the team to learn from this and keep growing.

Go Hawks!

The only good news from crap like what happened today will be when enough of it piles up that Pete decides to retire or the Seahawks decide to send him packing. I am hoping for the former so we can preserve as much of the feel-good as possible for what he did for this franchise.

I don’t want Pete gone. He still has this team in the game every week. I do wish he’d take the belichick route and let someone else run the offense with Russell as a pseudo coach. It’s been the same conservative, keep it close til the 4th style for years in an ever changing offensive league. This defense can not get stop after stop, holding elite QBs to 130 yards like we got to watch from 2012-2016. The offense needs to go into half time looking considerably better.

Problem is he won't and that means wasted quarters of football every week.

They got us on two plays, the kick return and Carson fumble. The players learn more from loss then a win. Frankly I'm glad we had a bad day, it'll keep the player more focused for the rest of the year.

Russo's stats look terrific. He missed a lot of throws in the second and early third that he usually makes. Probably the rain.

This was a comedy of errors. There really aren’t many valid observations to be made from a game that was so atypical in so many ways. Few quick observations...

- I would have never EVER brought a blitz against Bridgewater. I think he threw one pass over ten yards. It was important to keep guys in coverage because he only wanted to checkdown. If you bring pressure and he dumps it off...again, it was all he did...then you have one less tackler.

- We reached a point in the game where running the ball wasn’t just pointless, it was fruitless. Running on third and 2 late in the game was flat out stupid. We were moving it through the air and there was a very high probability Wilson completes one of the next two passes. Instead we lose a down by running for one yard and then have a ridiculous fourth down play that effectively ended our chances.

- Carson needs to sit until he has a Tiki Barber-esque change in how he holds the ball. He was a liability from traction and ball security. We’ve given up three TDs as a result of him mishandling the ball this year.

The offense still put up 245 yards in the first half. There were a handful of plays that didn't go right, but if not for Carson fumble and getting stuffed twice on 3rd and 4th and 1 I think it would have ended up looking a really solid outing.

It does concern me that we've been very poor in 1 yard running situations in the first few games of this year though, for a team that wants to hang its hat on it's ability to run the ball at will, they should be converting more of these - the fact that we attempted a pass on our 2nd 4th down attempt shows that coaches don't have faith that it's going so well this year either.

Woods lining up over Center was a huge mistake that took away a possession and gave them points that really kind of turned the tide I think.

On paper we outplayed them. Hell I'll give the saints that punt return for a TD. Carson fumble is what sealed the game IMO.

The Al Woods penalty, the punt return TD and the Carson fumble were absolute killers. Those are three of the most egregious mistakes that can't happen. The Woods penalty in particular was moronic.

By this logic, we should never run again. Seriously. Just give Russ the ball every time for the rest of the season, since he's statistically the best performer. Never run again.

At some point, you run. You have to. 3rd and short behind Chris Carson, who's historically got a great record of converting those very situations, is as good a time as any. It just didn't work, and a big part of why is the top-flight defense of the Saints. Give 'em credit.
